Star-Scout Dizzy MacLeod, Cadet Lucky, and Admiral Realta

Well I think I've been radio silent for long enough. Here is one of the two side project I'm currently working on. It's a new OC with a new setting. I've missed the early days of making Mark the Barbarian comics, so I wanted to try and recapture that. I'm challenging myself a bit since I really don't enjoy sci-fi, but I think what I dislike about it is A) realism, B) grittiness, C) it's tendency to 'say things' and be 'meaningful,' and C) technology.

Star-Scout Dizzy is going to be very cartoony and escapist. No hard science, no deep social commentary other than some funny sex jokes, and no overdeveloped plots. I want to play it loose. Of course I actually do have a big backstory in my head about the setting and these characters, but I'm not going to talk about it, and I'm only going to hint at it in the comics. I think I've gotten burned out on Mark a bit because people keep asking me about the world he lives in, and all the 'rules.' I think he's gotten overdeveloped, which is something I really dispise about story telling.

The most backstory I'll give is when I start making character sheets explaining the main characters and there species. Dizzy is a human (bla, bla, bla), Realta is a Danann (basically a space-elf, and the ruling class of the Astral Alliance), and Lucky is a Rozzian (like the sterotypical aliens from Roswell, he is also basically Key).

I've already got two other comics almost done for Dizzy. One will be out tonight, and the other will should be done tomorrow. After that I'll get back to finishing my commissions. If Dizzy is unpopular or I get sick of it I'll just go back to making Mark the Barbarian comics. This is a month-long expermiment.

Not think to much about it

Wow. I did put to Cs instead of a D. Sloppy.

Awesome, the idea is appealing and you numbered your dislikes in a nice fashion, even with two C, but seeing some of your work i am surprise you not like gritiness. Love this one as you in a small comic put lot about the characters, great start

Ace

it will be a good pactrice to see you out of fantasy, the design of the characters are great and the hair was an interesting choice. keep going to see how this goes.

Having a solid design language is important.

lOVING THAT space girl action

Understandable and her design is incredibly sexy so i cant wait to see some of her comics (hope you might reuse the tomboy hair/personality on a character soon though :P)

It was the most popular, but I thought that it was too generic. I want Star-Scout Dizzy to be immediately recognizable, and i thought the ram-horns were best for that.

I haven't because I have a comic half finished of Mark being a bully at the beach (though I've left the art vague enough to imply that it could be barbarian Mark). Other than that, yeah. I really overestimated how much time I'd have.

No Tomboy hair Q_Q

I hope this doesn't mean you've given up on the modern day Mark stuff, was looking forward to more of that. That said, this looks good too!
