There’s no point trying to attribute specific blame in any of these incidents we didn’t see, but the drama generated by Punk is really quite ridiculous at this point. I don’t want to spend the next 20 years hearing Punk talk about how he built AEW up to an 80,000 strong stadium show and yet everyone had a problem with him. I also don’t want to keep seeing my favourite company’s achievements overshadowed by stupid backstage arguments. If Punk made it physical first, Tony and co. really need to make an example of him. If that leads to his departure so be it. Perry also needs punishment, but given he’s young, I have more optimism that he’ll start to wise up. With Punk, it feels like he’s only getting more bitter and detrimental to the backstage atmosphere. Really, I just find the whole thing sad.
