ROH Legend Could Be Heading Back To The Ring
Added 2023-08-12 19:59:39 +0000 UTCNigel McGuinness could be headed back to the ring.
Sources have confirmed to Fightful Select that former Ring of Honor World Champion has been taking measures to try to return to the ring. We’ve not been told definitively that McGuinness has been cleared for a return, but that he’d been taking measures that indicated he was considering a return to the ring.
The 47- year old McGuinness last wrestled well over a decade ago, with his last match being in December 2011. His last televised match was way back in September of 2010 on TNA Xplosion against Stevie Richards.
We can confirm that McGuinness was brought up in recent months as a possible competitor on the AEW All In card. However, we can’t confirm if there are plans in order for him to wrestle, or if it’s been broached internally by All Elite Wrestling.

That makes sense. Even Albert Einstein said that the Internet is only full of accurate information, especially regarding the health status and medical history of wrestlers.

2023-08-13 23:39:24 +0000 UTCI don't even like Shibata wrestling. AEW is playing with fire by clearing all these guys. Will look real bad if one just collapses in ring or backstage after a match. PR nightmare.

2023-08-13 02:33:12 +0000 UTCThey can also put serious limitations on the matches he participates in, like they did (at least to start) with Shibata.

2023-08-12 23:57:31 +0000 UTCNigel has suffered a ton of concussions to point he has forgotten whole matches and time periods. If it was only a bicep surgery he would be cleared and wrestling already.

2023-08-12 23:23:26 +0000 UTCI'm not sure why? It was mainly a torn bicep that limited his career and opportunities. He retired because WWE wouldn't sign him unless he had bicep surgery (his own doctor was happy with rehab) and he didn't think he could work the harder-hitting indie style anymore, without that guaranteed WWE contract. I think there's a narrative that concussions and his diagnosis ended his career, and I'm sure that contributed. but his career really came down to him wanting to settle down in WWE - and their medical team disagreeing with his doctor.

2023-08-12 20:58:18 +0000 UTCNigel had the shittiest whimper of a farewell ever (for a guy of his stature who got the luxury of a farewell). Even if he came back only for one match to get the proper send off he deserves, that would be so satisfying.

2023-08-12 20:32:23 +0000 UTCMixed feelings to say the least, but end of the day he's a grown man. If he manages to get cleared and gets to end his career how he wants more power to him.
