When will Roman Reigns lose the title? Whenever he and Heyman say

As of WrestleMania 39 there were no active plans for Roman Reigns and we’re told that it wasn’t seriously considered for WrestleMania 39 either.

WWE sources spoke with Fightful ahead of Roman Reigns facing Jey Uso at Summerslam, and indicated there were no active plans for Roman Reigns to lose the WWE Universal Champion as of WrestleMania. Sami Zayn, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso weren’t ever heavily planned or scheduled to win the title.

When we bluntly asked when Roman Reigns will lose the WWE Undisputed World Championship “whenever Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman say it fuckin' ends.” So in the event Roman Reigns loses the World Championship, it was said that the two would have heavy input as to who that would be, whether it be tonight, or a year or two down the line.

"They are constantly looking at every possibility. When they think it's the very best thing for business, they'll know to switch it up, do it right, and really make someone doing it," the higher up indicated.

Fightful was told that the process of developing the title match, the result, and the plan to move forward with Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar after WrestleMania was “very transparent,” and that Cody Rhodes knew well ahead of time that would be the result of WrestleMania 39. Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman also knew well ahead of time that Reigns would be retaining, as Fightful Select had previously reported.

The source justified it by saying Roman Reigns is hotter than ever, Solo Sikoa is about to be able to draw real money, Jey Uso is a legit attraction, Jimmy Uso is about to be, and Cody Rhodes is hotter now than before WrestleMania.

Maybe but keeping Roman champiom assigned whole year until maybe next year Summerslam kinda crazy

Matthew Brownlee

WWE isn't helping itself at all having Reigns keep this belt. Why even have it if 1 man is going to hijack it until the end of eternity? Who cares about what Heyman wants...He's an employee not a shareholder. Enough...

Vicki Langteau

So I guess I’m primarily watching UFC tonight instead. My interest in Roman keeping the belt has been completely killed after his last two feuds.

kidfavre4

Wow convincing argument.

Chris Kessler

No

Leo Chirichiello

No wonder it's already gone on way too long

Windir2112

Really missed the boat on doing something special with Sami and could have easily put the belt back on Roman.

Chris Kessler

The only question is how much time they have tonight? Roman and Jey are getting 30 minutues. Seth and Finn? 25 minutes? If Cody and Brock get 20 I wouldnt be shocked. Logan Paul and Ricochet on 2nd?

matthew underwood

This is some Hogan shit..

Busby

They can do Roman v Rock w out the championship. For Head of Family title.

James Kruse

is the part about Jey not being planned a spoiler for tonight lol

Eleanor

While I’m not a big fan of Reigns & Heyman getting to choose when the reigns end WWE right now is red hot as a product. To be fair to Roman he has lost his last two matches on PLE first to Zayn & KO & now to The USOs with Jey pinning him. If Roman & Heyman do get the say in who beats I could see it being Jey Uso

Matt Hennessy

Just my 2 cents on this. It made a lot of sense to me that it was really Sami that drove the wedge in the Bloodline. First by teaming with KO and beating the Uso's at Mania, then winning the rematch against the Uso's which drove Roman's ego mad. Roman then tried to step in with Solo at NoC in Saudi to beat Sami/KO but the Uso's "accidentally" sabotaged them. Cody being the one to start the Civil War just wouldn't have made as much as Sami.

Stephen Harris

*hindsight 👍🏼. They should still do Roman vs Rock. It writes itself. Imagine Roman showing up to the set of Red Notice 2 and saying this my movie now.

Excellence of Flexecution

tell me you're not paying attention without telling me you're not paying attention Codys reactions are way louder now post mania then they were going on he's being made and put in storylines with the top guys in the company, if you can't see that i do not know what to tell you.

Ryan Martins

It would only be bad if WWE were losing money and ratings. They’re not. I get some people may be tired of it but whatever they’re doing with Roman and the WWE Championship is obviously working and anybody arguing against that is arguing in bad faith.

Brion Harris

So this is could be another That doesn't work for me brother?

NateF_81

To me in hine side it made sense. They originally wanted The Rock, he wasn't beating Roman for the belt so why would they have Cody do it? If he doesn't lose it tonight then he really should lose it at Mania. There would be no other story left for him after...

Matthew Brownlee

God…this is never gonna end?

Magan Yusuf

Solo vs Roman at the Rumble, Roman vs Cody (but give Seth a main event for once) at Mania. After that, 🤷🏻‍♂️

Danny Eisen

They got three moments to do this and make it feel big. I don't think they'll get fourth

Jack McInally

I think he is still as hot as he was. He is still consistently the one who gets better reactions on Raw every week. but again to each their own opinion.

TMS

He’s doing absolutely nothing of any storyline significance and LA knight is blowing him out of the water in merch sales. He’s obv still a top babyface but he has absolutely dropped down a few notches since the loss

4_kevin

WWE needs another heel manager somewhere in the vicinity of 2023 Heyman. MVP is being wasted. Lot of ex MMA guys could use a manager to do the heavy promo work.

matthew underwood

Please go watch is entrance on the last Raw’s (especially Atlanta) and on the last pay per views. That man is the hottest face in wrestling by the crowd reactions like cmon

TMS

Sounds like Roman stroking his own ego still IMO. WM 39 was the biggest opportunity they had and they still blew it.

Drew Quesada

Haven’t seen the doc but having 2 ok matches with Lesnar after bein white hot at mania I can’t help but feel he’s been stifled

SlickJonny

now this is true.

matthew underwood

Wrestlemania main event result was, and remains, a massive error.

David C

I dont know man, that Documentary is killer. If anything Brock Lesnar's lack of promo skills has dragged the feud down. There's still no motive for Brock to attack Cody the night after WM.

matthew underwood

Makes sense. Appreciate it!

The first go around

Fightful Select

☝🏿☝🏿☝🏿☝🏿☝🏿☝🏿 Tribal Chief reign continues!!!

Kris Hill

The Brock-Cody and Bloodline Civil War feuds would make so much more sense if Cody beat Roman at Mania.

Jeremy Rushing

Cody is a shell of what he was before mania

4_kevin

Maybe this is just the cynic in me, but how is this any different that what Hogan did with WCW. Giving creative control to Roman, even with Heyman advising him, seems like a really bad idea.

Forceofwilliam

"Sami Zayn, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso weren’t ever heavily planned or scheduled to win the title" Spoiler alert? 👀

Mike Modest To The Top

Cody is not as hot as he was before WM

SlickJonny

I dunno Uce, I think Mania 39 was the moment.

Shmingy Dingy

It literally was Cody tho

Joe

The match still will be dramatic af
