Why Trish Stratus vs. Becky Lynch was pulled from Summerslam

Alex’s initial read on it being bumped for the late addition of the battle Royal feels pretty plausible at this point. It’s a bummer because it all feels like a consequence of them realizing they had to have something for L. A. Knight too late.

I would agree, except the sponsorship from Slim Jim for the match means the WWE are getting a lot of money for that so it was never getting removed from the card.

The Battle Royal does not need to be on SummerSlam its only purpose is so people can shut up about LA Knight not being on the show when in reality he had no feud going into SummerSlam so he has no reason to be on the card

As someone that doesn’t watch WWE (so I literally have no viewpoint as to how important that match is), I applaud the logic behind the decision. The hardest parts of watching AEW PPVs is the number of matches (which increased PPVs should help). Anyone showing quality control on PPV in 2023 should be applauded. It would be in the top 3 things I’d improve in AEW.

Im sure Ronda and Shayna was stil lsuppose to be champs and they probably wouldn't of been on the card and Trish/Becky was but they had to blow that off cause Ronda not coming back. I wonder if they can try to finagle it and try to extend it to Mania? I know its a stretch but maybe they do the Canada thing and there is a DQ or whatever. They go to payback and Trish wins that too. Maybe Shayna helps and you pivot into a Shayna and Becky feud, come back around to Trish who could be doing Tag Team stuff with Zoey. Around Rumble time they kinda get back to where they was and have their final blowoff at Mania where Becky finally gets that win. Maybe Trish and Zoey are champs, Becky wants a rematch but Trish is like nah we done and Becky costs her the titles and Trish is like ok, you wasn't your rematch, you got it...

It's a Big 4 PLE, make the time. WWE isn't constrained by a 3-hour time slot on Mondays. I agree the card shouldn't be 12+ matches, but cutting a match, that had been built for months, seemingly in the last week is ridiculous.

I understand why they're upset considering Becky was advertised for SummerSlam. They could have pulled Ronda vs Shayna but if this is Ronda's last match then it makes sense she puts Shayna over at Summerslam. I knew they couldn't pull the Battle Royal because it's sponsored by Slim Jim. WWE kinda has to do it for Money wise.

Time shouldn’t be an issue for a PLE in my opinion, since it’s SUMMERSLAM, the second biggest show of the year, have the start time at 7 eastern… you can easily have 10 matches on the card for that.
