Update on Drew McIntyre, WWE Relationship, More

Drew McIntyre has the wrestling world in a stir, and we’ve learned a lot more about his status with WWE.

McIntyre’s WWE deal is up in early 2024, well before WrestleMania, and we’re told that he operated on the possibility that it could end up being his last WrestleMania. While it’s been reported that he’s leaning towards not staying with WWE, we’re told that it’s more accurate to say that he doesn’t know. If things aren’t working for both sides by the time his deal is up, McIntyre is willing to explore options elsewhere, and leave the door open to return to WWE in the future.

McIntyre has been working banged up and injured and had a few injuries that needed taken care up, but we’re told he was adamant he wanted to get through WrestleMania to work with Sheamus and put over Gunther. However, there was said to have been frustration and several situations of not being on the same page with WWE. McIntyre, who is usually told about Draft plans ahead of time, was one of several left out of the loop until he was announced as a Raw talent on television. There have been several perceived miscommunications between Drew and the company over the past couple of years.

Drew McIntyre is said to be very hands-on with his creative when applicable, and while there have been pitches for him to eventually return as a heel, those involved expect him to at least push back and make sure that it creatively makes sense. He’s been adamant about not making dramatic changes unless it creatively makes sense.

In regards to his contract status, many WWE talent aren’t sure exactly how the new WWE deal with Endeavor will affect them. However, WWE has had a different approach to renewals in the last couple of years.

Are you seriously debating how cheap they are towards fighters? Look at how they treated Jon Jones. Dude just came back but his pay dispute was huge.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were reports of Drew being "hard to work with" and having "attitude problems" if Drew leaves.

CSDX

He deserves that or more! He is constantly doing media for WWE and working so many days outside the ring

Daniel Lee

My guess would be that Drew’s unhappiness level is like 2/10 but he’s acting like it’s 8/10 to get the best deal possible which is smart.

Daniel Lee

Agreed with this 💯 percent even if he did sign with AEW he would probably be Third or Fourth banana 🍌 no way he gets Placed High er than any of The Elite or Jericho Moxley and Punk

Barron Hudson

This is information is wrong UFC made an offer to Francis That would have made him one of the Highest paid Heavyweights.. He declined... Stop making up stuff

AE doubleDrew tbh

If I’m WWE I’m offering Drew the KO deal. Pay him three million a year to retain him & turn him heel then give him a world title run

Matt Hennessy

Love him so much! He has been so amazing to Josie. Drew has earned and deserves the world. Whatever he decides, I just hope it’s the best for him mentally.

Leslie, Charlie & Josie Beam

Why not? It was the perfect moment to do it. That or Cody dethroning Roman at Mania.

I’m both British and was in the building for Clash at the Castle and I agree with him not winning.

Jaryd Cornwell

Agreed. It was a perfect time to split the titles as well but it is what it is

Geo

All of this could’ve been avoided had Drew beat Roman at Clash at the Castle. Completely missed opportunity.

Mike Harp

Man I feel for him; having his first ever world title reign during the pandemic era with no fans, taking a loss in Wales and kinda just floating around the roster now. Hopefully whatever he decides to do he's happy with it. I think everyone agrees that CATC was a missed opportunity to crown him properly.

Geo

He carried them through the thunder dome era. It’s a crime he still hasn’t gotten his moment in front of a large crowd. I get having a heel carry the titles so that fans want to see a baby face take them down. But what’s bothered me the most about the bloodline is that EVERYONE is watching the run ins and help for Roman to retain. You’re telling me they don’t even bring it up in a storyline? I still think Drew should have won at Clash at the Castle.

thaddperkins

He already proved he can excel outside of WWE. Hope they remember that he can when negotiating with him

Great reporting SRS

I'm not sold on endeavor being a UFC fan. They have shown how cheap they are to the point where they just tell their fighters to take a hike and that's with UFC making a ton more money than WWE.

Real top star. Clash at the Castle was THE moment for Drew to finally have a proper title run.
