More on AEW Title Name Change
Added 2023-03-09 18:00:05 +0000 UTCAEW changed the All-Atlantic Title to the International title, a move that has been in the works for quite some time.
Fightful Select was told that Warner Bros asked for something big in order to cross promote the Shazam: Fury of the Gods movie on AEW. Tony Khan had the idea of doing a "level up" of the championship to the International Title. Khan actually had the new championship belt made months ago to prepare specifically for this week and next week in order to promote the film.
We're told AEW is always excited to do the cross promotional work, and attempts to have newsworthy items in association with them. The company also wanted to put something newsworthy on the Winnipeg show and increase the prestige of a title they put on television often in prime positions.

"I watch Dynamite every week..." "I don't know who the All-Atlantic champ is..." "The challengers are chosen at random and Orange wins all the time..." So you DO know who the champ is! All three of those statements can't be true, which tells me you're grumbling for the sake of grumbling.

2023-03-10 19:26:28 +0000 UTCGunther's developed storylines with Drew, Sheamus, and Strowman all within like the last six weeks on top of setting a Royal Rumble record and setting up a longer-term storyline with cody lol. There's just nothing interesting whatsoever about this AEW title at all. The opponents basically feel like they put everyone's name in a hat and drew randomly from it. No build up to the match, no promos, no brawls, nothing. They just throw them out there, Orange Cassidy wins, and then the feud is immediately over. Has Orange Cassidy done an in-ring promo in the last 12 months? Seriously, I could be forgetting one but I don't think he's done anything outside of backstage, pre-taped segments in as long as I can remember.
