Tom Lawlor on Power Slap, Fred Rosser, Goldberg-Rihanna
Added 2023-02-17 16:00:05 +0000 UTCFightful spoke with Tom Lawlor ahead of NJPW Battle in the Valley. He joked that he was annoyed that in the show preview, Ian Riccaboni didn't mention the match between he and Homicide.
Lawlor said that he was actually approached in the past to do Slap Fight related stuff, but ended up passing on it. He thinks that eventually worked slap fights will end up being used as pro wrestling segments. He's also ashamed that he has watched most of Power Slap.
He said that he was shocked to see he was paired up to face Fred Rosser in the match that launched their feud. However, he said that Rosser was completely different from what we know him as in WWE, and would proudly fight with or against him now.
Lawlor didn't clarify whether or not he had a New Japan Pro Wrestling Contract, but said that he is "obligated" to them, but is available to take independent bookings wherever he chooses.
He doesn't understand what Goldberg's problem is with Rihanna's Super Bowl Halftime show.

Sometimes I watch some of the wwe original content and interviews of Goldberg.. where he talks about his love of meeting kid fans.. how it’s all about seeing those kids smile.. about supporting people esp kids with special needs and supporting people with mental health issues and I think to myself wow.. he really seems like a genuine and kindhearted person.. thab I see his comments on Rihanna and his interactions with some other wrestlers and how they speak about him and I think.. nope maybe he’s still a deusche.. just a deusche who still has some humanity left in him… so many bash Rihanna’s performance for what… it may not be everyone’s cup of tea. I thought it was really well done even if I preferred last years… but why must everyone give ther opiniks on shit like this.. does anyone really give a shit if Goldberg or trump disliked Rihanna’s performance… just dislike it in silence.. even others that didn’t like it don’t care about their opinions
