Remember the future is to some degree mutable, and as was shown in the chapter and story already, it can still be changed. Its not even set in stone that the potential parents will ever meet (or could be prevented from meeting), or that the dragon could be prevented from eating them, etc etc etc. It can all, potentially, be changed.
