Eric's life in one sentence? :)

While I want to see what happens now that the MC dispell-bombed his teacher's sham, I'm a lot more interested in the Other note during the lesson. That seems a lot more important, or at least more interesting to me.

These chapters are something I look forward to every week, I follow many webserials but this one has a special place. The way magic is portrayed here is just so exciting and satisfying, I love reading about the discoveries and experiments. Thank you for the chapter!

It's actually gonna come off hiatus soon. Life keeps on throwing me for loops but things settled down recently. It's why I started reading again too haha.

Vistiel

Vistiel what happened to your own book?

Thundermike00

Thank you!

I uh... I love this book. You’re a great author <3

Vistiel

Edit^^: I don’t know why I thought of all that now, probably just cause he once again showed up to observe ericks brilliant spell work. And every convo of late is people just shitting on the poor dragon, with more and more being revealed about how honestly sad his circumstances continue to be. Literally spending hundreds of years terrified that someone has been hiding his worlds and colleagues and idk, friends(maybe he had friends) behind an illusion of death and carnage, then finally starting to come to grasp with the fact that it might not be because of Erick helping wake him up, calling him a friend, and his never seen before Magic’s, only to, while coming to genuine terms with the death of his entire universe, be vilified by that “friend”. Shit I’d go right back to insane. It’s enough to understand why he might just break everything apart anyway. Erick owes him some love man. That’s his whole thing. I CANT WAIT TO SEE IT TOO. I will be crushed if mel never gets redemption xD

Vistiel

Honestly, I can’t wait until Erick and mel mel sit down and have a heart to heart. The big dark dragon is a bit cruel, but seems more like a hurt soul than anything. Also, Erick owes him some gratitude for saving Jane from that soul spear. She would have died. All consuming death, no revival. Mel saved her and Erick never really thanked him for it directly. This book started out with Erick calling mel his friend and the poor guy needs some help understanding that concept, and is trying to do better. Ericks whole past was about reforming and helping. With the dark always literally available to talk to, I wish Erick would be less instigative and more approachable, like he would be for others. Sure mels a bit of a peeping Tom and his clergy was horrid, but he didn’t order them to be. He just didn’t stop them. Imagine if Erick tried talking to the guy like a person rather than vilifying him like everyone else does. Bet mels just a big softie who could use a friend to chat to every now and then to help ground him that WASNT trying to exploit his godliness. But turning him into a grounded character with those types of interactions would ruin his big bad threatening image that the book thrives on. So I get it. Just feel like it’s sad for him as a person to force him to stay so trapped when Erick loves helping those types of folk. Imagine how lonely he must feel.

Vistiel

Well that escalated quickly!

I think you are right, probably something to do with 'magnitude'. If I remember correctly the red dot, as a magnitude 9 spell rewrote reality as fire. Maybe in this case the magnitude 9 bird doll hit the web of magnitude 7 illusions and just overwrote them in that space which was enough to break it all.

Wyatt

That's funny, I was reading the Shadow/Dark bit and thought "now would be just the right time for Erick to monumentally mess up by exploring this." This works as well, although I was fully settled into the pace and not sure if I expected something it or not, not after he shelved the the first mishap I was expecting. Also, the signs someone is a dragon or that they are a reclusive archmage overlap pretty well. Also not expecting that although obvious in retrospect.

Cam Hanach

Huh, that was certainly an exciting ending. If I had to guess, maybe Eric's bird somehow displaced or 'overwrote' a small area of the illusions with more Truth then the existing illusions already there, causing them all to collapse somehow. Alternatively, they did state directly interacting with things and people would cause illusions to fail, maybe that's involved somehow? I look forward to finding out what happened next chapter!

Aww! It wasn't as bad as the time Erick stepped onto that Teleporter Pad~ (sorry, this is just where the story broke for next week.)

Great chapter. Annoying cliff :) 'Aisha smiled, then began' <- this 'talk' should be italicized. 'much though this whole' though -> through

Corwin Amber

Ah, one of those cliffs then.

Harsh cliff

How well did yggdrasil's scry eye handle walking through the illusion path?
