Greg, please consider doing a video on the propeller pitch control of the Argus engines. I have found technical information on them but only in German, so I can't understand how they function. https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/german-finned-spinners-circa-wwii.443512/

I believe this was a well thought out explanation why a Merlin engine swap or even a upgrade to paddle props was a difficult proposition at the very least. It makes wonder what a refitted P-38 with paddle props in addition to the more powerful Allison engines what have preformed in combat though. I love this video and the information I learn here is excellent keep up the good work , Greg

I had a Beechcraft electric prop on the nose of my Bonanza. Even though the core engine was the same as the later models equipped with hydraulic props, there was not an economical way to swap the electric prop with a hydraulic prop without changing the engine and controls as well. (The electric prop was better anyway: lighter, never leaked and no A.D.'s)

Looking at the P-38's huge wheels and tires boggles the mind in that you have an aircraft that can go 400mph+, fly at 40,000 feet and operate out of a grass (or worse) airstrip.

Lovely as always. Not throwing darts at Allison, but it doesn’t seem like they had a lot of resources from the War Department or didn’t have the engineering resources for quick response. It just seems that P&W (as an example) would have been able to do more in less time? I don’t know just musing in my insomniac brain. Love the video and effort, thanks!
