Book Sales, January 2018
Added 2018-02-05 14:00:00 +0000 UTCI put a lot of commentary into the image itself this time. All totals are for e-books across all retailers, except the middle column on the right, which conflates the audio and print edition sales. Examine at your leisure!
Some notes:
- Last month's Bookbub for the Her Instruments box set was late enough in the month that most of the sales bled over into January, so as you can see from the spreadsheet, lots of that box set moved last month.
- Two titles launched this month. One got a formal launch (where I actually inform my fans it's out and to go get it), and that was the business book. The other, the Blood Ladders trilogy box set, I'm setting up for a launch this month (and hopefully I'll collect some reviews on it--if you read the series and liked it, consider dropping one on the box set? I will squee gratefully!). So I'm not surprise it's gotten no sales this month.
- The sad totals for the business book launch do not surprise me. My nonfiction does not sell well. I'm not sure why I'm bothering to pay for the print edition. The completionist in me, I guess. >.<
- As usual, Space Elves greater-than all others. But I was pleasantly surprised to see Morgan's series doing better than Alysha's, and with fewer books to drive the unit sale totals. I'm not sure what's driving those sales... possibly bleedover from last year's non-international Bookbub? Not sure.
- Finally, in the matter of 'you all un-canceling series'... look, please, at the totals for the Kherishdar books, and realize I would not be writing Kherishdar's Exception this year without this Patreon. That's all you, folks. <3
Anyway, it was a pretty strong January, and we're going into this month with another US Bookbub scheduled for Mindtouch, so I'm hoping to see good numbers later this month. Once that clears out, I'll pitch the Blood Ladders box set, see if I can't get that a promotional slot.

The problem being there aren't that many places that separate fantasy romance from paranormal, so there's no neat category for something like TK to fit into. I'm still looking for places, though. :)

2018-02-05 18:40:07 +0000 UTCIs there a Romance-centric book promotion site/service? Once you have written a third book in the series, it might be worth trying something along those lines. But it may be too far outside expectations... My favourite moments in the stories aren't the romance-focussed ones. (#1: Cantor for Pearls earning the name.) But I'm not the typical audience for such things either.

I'm sure you have your own ideas about that but my twopennyworth is A) the covers - of all your covers those are the ones that don't really do it for me, B) the other pelted stuff is all linked, I certainly got led from Dreamhealers to PG to HI because it's all really one story and Alysha stands outside that. And hey! The romances are fun! I didn't think I'd like them but, yeah, I got sucked in again...
