I am slowly finding and hiring artists to redo the art for my older books, and I found someone I want to do the landscapes for the Kherishdar novels. Which... required me to know just how much landscape he was going to have to paint, so he could estimate a price for me.
I knew I didn't want an entire landscape piece for the cover because literary books often have a lot less emphasis on the art and more on the design. So I grabbed the only landscape I've done for this world and messed with it until I came up with this framework, which I think works. It needs some tweaking--what doesn't!--but I think it says "fantasy of manners" (or, I guess, in this case, science fiction of manners).
The actual books won't be bright yellow and purple though. >.>
(Also, I dunno if I'm going to keep the title font. The colors are imperfect. And everything needs to be shifted around just a little. BUT! Minor things! Right??)
Anyway. I'm not sure if using this style (and new art) will result in better sales, but it can't at this point result in worse sales, so Imma go with it. *eyes wallet* Gonna be soooooooooooo poor why do all my artists want to be paid in euros >.>
