God Sends a Cat

Apologies for my absence... lots of stuff going on, and I am dragging through it. I'm working on content for the week, though, so I think I'm coming back online (in the "computer waking up from sleep" sense).

Meanwhile, have a picture of Ron Weasley. I did not particularly want a cat (or even another pet--I think putting my dog down broke my heart into too many pieces for me to put back together, petwise). But this one jumped up on our windowsill and asked piteously to be let in, and a week of calling everyone in the neighborhood has not revealed a frantic owner. Yesterday's trip to the vet revealed no microchip either.

He is a homeless cat, and the strangest cat I've met, in the sense that he is four months old but incredibly mellow, very well-behaved, and highly socialized. He made no complaints when the vet manhandled him; his only reaction to getting multiple shots was to give a small mew of complaint, but he didn't twitch away. When I force the worm medication down his throat, he just swallows it and then sticks around afterwards to be petted.

When my mom-in-law and daughter sit outside to keep him company, he jumps up and finds the closest space between them and sits there to hang out with them.

My daughter is in love, and so is my mom-in-law. So I guess we now have a cat? I feel like every writer cliche in the universe. But he's got no place to go, and I'm not so shatterhearted as to prefer him to go to a shelter and an uncertain future than to take care of him.

God sometimes sends us odd gifts. I think this is His to Daughter, but knowing the way He works, I'm probably also supposed to learn something. -_-
