2021-03-25 03:07:21 +0000 UTCOkay, weird thing. When trying to launch the game (on Ubuntu 20), it just crashed right from the start with a mysterious malloc error, without even creating a log file. Suspecting a framework error, I rebuilt the distribution from Ren'Py 7.4.4 with default options... Which is a fancy way of saying I created a new Ren'Py project, copy-pasted the content of the "game" folder of CLIT in it and clicked "Build Distributions". And the rebuilt version is working perfectly, no issue, even keeping save compatibility. No idea what happened, but sharing in case someone has a similar problem.
