Graphite And Chalk On Toned Paper: Part 4

This is is, the final countdown! But really, in this video we are going to work on finishing the drawing. That means fine-tuning relationships. Value, edge, and focus, all of these factors need to be in balance. Also we will make our final choices in shape design. So much to do!

The stump is like another pencil, just softer. The brush is most likely to remove eraser grit. The paper towel- that’s when I need a broad wash of value in a non specific shape.

Hi Stephen, I drew along with this video series and learned a lot (patience is one of them ;). I have a question: In the first video, you used the stump, in the second you use a brush and later a tissue to even out the graphite. Could you tell us the difference between them?

Marion de Jong

Hi Fabricio, I use a spray fix called "Spectra Fix," at the end of the project.

Yes, the shine it’s an effect that happens only with graphite, in charcoal or carbon it doesn’t occur. Do you use something at the end of your projects, to protect the piece? Thanks a lot Stephen.
