autoConstraints is a Blender add-on designed to make working in 3D easier, faster and more intuitive.

It reduces the guesswork of transforming objects in the 3D viewport by automatically applying axis-constraints to transform tools.

No need to manually apply constraints to every operation
No switching in and out of orthographic views
No clicking small parts of gizmos

Features

This FREE version of autoConstraints contains all that was originally planned when development started:

Move/tweak and rotate objects with automatic constraints
Constraints are based on the most appropriate plane based on the viewing angle
Constraints can be overridden/cancelled with the default constraint methods
Constraints can be toggled with an icon in the viewport tool header

Installation

autoConstraints is installed using the standard Blender add-on method.

If upgrading from a previous release, make sure to disable the old version before enabling the new version (step 5.)

Download the latest .zip file above
Launch Blender and open the preferences through Edit/Preferences
Go to the Add-on tab and press "Install"
Navigate to the downloaded .zip file and press "Install Add-on"
Check the box on the add-on to enable in Blender. You should see the UI pop up in the viewport, the add-on is ready to go!

WARNING This add-on works by disabling and replacing the hotkeys for default tools.

It is designed to work with any hotkeys
No user hotkeys are ever deleted, only disabled

However, you should back up your preferences (just to be safe) if :

If you have custom hotkeys for default tools
If you use other add-ons that override hotkeys — this may cause conflicts

How to Use

Using the add-on is as simple as using the default Blender tools. If you wish to turn off the constraint behavior, simply toggle the button in the toolbar
