The Turtle Library #19: Early Edition

I'm currently in New Jersey, visiting family, so there's not too much time for doing much drawing, but there has been plenty of travel time with lots of room for thought-work! Though there's not much result to visually show, I've been getting a lot of little bits and bytes figured out for both the main Turtle Library story, and for the various little features I want to have ready for the Turtle Library Magazine this spring (an in-magazine play set, a prose short story featuring some of the other passengers on the train car cricket is currently acrobatting around, etc).
I also roughed out the rules for a new board game where you take the role of an eagle, navigating shifting air currents above an ocean as you fish for food. There's a lot of little interesting decisions to make as you manage your hand size (also your nest size) to build a nest to attract a mate and raise your young, or mess with the wind and other players, and decide whether to keep the fish you catch as victory points, or eat them to improve your flying speed and strength. I'm excited to make up a version for playtesting soon, and I will be sure to post more info/rules/etc as progress progresses!
I've also completed a first bullet-point draft of a kids self-publishing/zine/comic workshop I will be running in March, which I can post more about as it progresses if people are interested.
And it sounds like the nephew is waking up, which signals time to bring this post to a close!
