Last night me and the family watched a real classic: Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (a weird title, since they also meet Dracula and Wolfman among other people during the course of the movie) - I'm happy to report my kids loved it, and laughed at all the right places. Costello is such a strange, man child, kind of annoying and it mostly doesn't work for me anymore but it really feels alive and earned in a horror movie setting... so scared at the sight of Dracula, he struggles to make a sound, is really funny. I remember when i was a kid, we had a super 8 projector and A&CMF was one of the FEW movies we had to play back. it couldn't have been the whole movie, it must have been selected scenes. There must have been sound, but i can only imagine it came out of a shitty little speaker on the projector... Did I grow up in the 1940s? it sounds like it! Anyway it's a fun movie and it's on Peacock if you happen to Stream that. scene.
I'm genuinely surprised at how well the stand up special played this week! I thought it'd be a nice little treat to throw up on the channel and all the usuals folks would enjoy but that would be that. It seems to be resonating in a nice way outside out little world, which i hope brings more people into this little world to make it slightly bigger!
I'm going to a small halloween gathering with our pod of negatives tonight dressed as a dead cowboy. that's all i could muster. what are you going as?
