What's happening?
Terrible news about Chadwick Boseman. 43? Fuck! He seemed like a genuinely great guy, from the outpouring online. Death, man. I lost my mother in law to cancer a few years ago and it was just so incredibly brutal how the cancer just had its way, despite all we know. I remember when Linda McCartney died, I thought, shit... Cancer doesn't care if you're a rich and healthy, vegetarian Beatle Wife... and then, when George went... well, cancer doesn't even care if you're an ACTUAL Beatle. We put a man on the moon but we can't stop death from stomping all over the place. But some people, despite logic and good taste, keep livin'! (Wilbur Ross? huh?)
Anyway, don't wallow in it friends! Enjoy your time while you're here! At least we have each other to kill the time.
My foot is slowly getting better, and I hope to be doing long walks again this week. I've been doing those 7 minute work outs, which suck. They hurt and I feel like a fool doing them... but i've been keeping good about just eating less and haven't had any meat in 2 weeks. (Had a bit of cheese yesterday, yes I did)
DROP CONCERT! Who's in for tonight? We're gonna do it live, but we're also gonna film it from multiple angles and cut it together to make DROP CONCERT: THE MOTION PICTURE / Big plans!
PS. Me and me wife are completely rapt by Fargo Season 3. It's so fucking good I can't believe it. I skipped Season One because I loved the movie and found it WEIRD they were cosplaying the Coen's! BUT, Season 2 was really cool and I highly recommend diving in. It's just so well done and I have now grown to love the reverent way they treat the Coen's body of work, almost as a universe to draw from... I often catch little turns of phrase or characters that could be from any number of Coen brothers films.. Or shots or setups that evoke a moment... I think the Coen's were just about as influential on me as any "Comedy" show or movie. Think about Bedtime Stories. The scene where M. Emmet Walsh interrogates Odenkirk in his office? That's straight from the scene in Fargo where Frances McDormand visits William H. Macy

Here's a demo for Nothing! You can hear Natalie's contribution to the writing.. I played it for her and she deftly suggested adding a few Major 7th chords around "for us one day..." It makes all the difference for me... I don't know much about music theory but a Major 7th chord really can pull on the heart strings... a straight 7th is very bluesy... it's a full step under the root note, but the Major 7th is only a half step under, so it has this way of making the chord feel like it's yearning to resolve. I'm sure there's plenty of you tube videos that deep dives into WHY. neat stuff!
See you tonight! -t
