In a real company if such a consensual relationship develops, HR would need to step in and make sure they were not remotely involved with each other's work and make them be part of different reporting structures to eliminate all chance for favoritism or pressure. If that was not possible, one or the other would have to leave. Office predation is such a common thing that such relationships without those protections cannot be tolerated. Though this is a US perspective and applies mainly to companies big enough to have an HR (which this one has) and is also widely flaunted. Remember that early episode where the HR lady was complaining, and Boss jumped in to protect Leam. This is classic favoritism behavior and imagine how other interns and employees who had to obey the rules would feel. It was made to be cute but in real life it would be annoying as hell to others.
