“I think I understand better than you,” Lyle retorted. “You’re blind.”
“You have no idea what happens behind closed doors.” She wrapped her arms around her knees and stared at the horizon. “This has to end.”
“Jasmine.”
He waited until she looked at him.
“Roth isn’t going to let you go.”
His implacable tone made her heart skip a beat.
“He has to. We made a deal,” she said slowly
He flicked his hand in a dismissive gesture. “Your deal was over before it began. No man would do the things he’s done unless he loved you.”
She looked away.
“Ask him,” Lyle challenged.
No way in hell.
“Min, the man would do anything for you.”
She ignored him.
“He’d kill for you.”
Something about the way he said that made her look at him again. Lyle’s expression hardened.
“You know,” he said quietly.
When she began to shake her head, he gripped her wrist and squeezed.
“You know it wasn’t an accident.”
