“I just fuck.”

“Are you married?” she blurted.

Grayson stopped with the fork halfway to his mouth. “Pardon?”

“Jasmine,” Roth said in a warning tone.

“Dating? Seeing someone special?” she pressed.

Gold eyes lightened with humor. “No to all of the above.” Grayson snatched the bit of waffle off the end of his fork and chewed thoughtfully as he assessed her. “Why do you ask?”

“Just curious.” She knew next to nothing about him. For all she knew, he could be married with two kids, though she’d suspected he was a bachelor. “Are you the relationship type?”

There was a twitch near his upper lip. She suspected he was suppressing the urge to sneer.

“No,” he said.

“So you’re a serial dater?”

“I don’t date.” When her brows rose he clarified, “I just fuck.”

That didn’t surprise her. It confirmed her suspicion that despite his charm, he didn’t let anyone close to him… aside from Roth. On the surface, they had nothing in common, but there was something that bound them together more tightly than blood…

“Shocked?” Grayson asked as he picked up his tea cup.

“Not at all,” she said coolly. “Sex is my preferred coping mechanism as well.”

Gold eyes narrowed slightly before he released a sensual hum. “I almost forgot. Thalia.”

Her fork scraped her plate before she set it down.

Grayson’s smile widened. “Once I saw the well worn set in Roth’s office, I had to see what all the fuss was about. I was halfway through the first book when I realized you were the author.” He leaned forward slightly, eyes gleaming. “How much of it’s true?”

“I’ll leave that up to your imagination.”

“You shouldn’t. I have an overactive imagination.” He bobbed his brows. “Do you really have a kink for—”

“Finish that question and I’ll cut your throat,” Roth said quietly.
