April/May Updates

For those who have already been invoiced for books in the Possessing Violet Series, the shipment I’ve been waiting for is coming in early next week, so I’ll be packing and sending tracking numbers your way very soon!

Since the release, I’ve done a little marketing, but have mostly been tending to admin work that I let build up since I tend to ignore everything until I’m in between projects. When I’m writing, I usually don’t do anything else unless I absolutely have to.

I did my taxes, fulfilled the book orders I could, updated my Mia Knight website, and have been trying to record some videos. I think most don’t read my blogs, so I thought making videos talking about each individual book would be fun and also, easier to consume, maybe?

Since the Possessing Violet Series is fresh in my mind, I thought it would be interesting to talk about the origins of Corrupt Idol, parts of it that came directly from my personal life, and how the story evolved. Also, sharing my thoughts on Corrupt Obsession, since it was a unique, unexpected project for me… I also made a super long video talking about the future of the Crime Lord Series that would hopefully answer a lot of questions for readers who are waiting for continuations in that series.

This led me to researching how to edit videos and download software that immediately jacked up my computer. It’s been a mess! I couldn’t even do basic tasks and thought I may have to take my computer in to fix, but I think I figured it out and have to start from scratch. I was hoping to share the videos with you guys, but I have yet to edit even one. Lol. Hopefully, I’ll find another editing software that isn’t as complicated since all I want to do is trim the clips since I tend to ramble and go on all these tangents. Hopefully I’ll be able to share those soon!

I have to go to Nevada to wrap up my business there, so I can officially claim residency in Oregon and ground myself here. I put it off because the book orders have been significantly delayed and the health of my 16-year-old senior dog has been in a rapid decline. I’ve been taking him to all these vet appointments and emotionally bracing to put him down, but after 3 weeks of new medication and a lot of TLC, he’s bounced back and has received the go ahead from the vets to make the trip! My vet said yesterday that he, “presents as a crotchety old man, but his bloodwork reads like he’s a spring chicken.” LMAO. My dog is like The Terminator! He’s so strong-willed and apparently, up for one more epic adventure!

After I fulfill the book orders, I’ll be offline and on the road. I’ll have my laptop, but I’m not sure how much writing I’ll get done. We’ll see!

I don’t want to commit to posting in May since I’m not sure how long this is going to take. Because I have my senior dog, I’ll be traveling a lot slower than I usually do. The trip is about 900 miles each way (14 hours one way). I usually break it up into 2 days, but because of my dog, it’ll have to be broken into double the amount of time. It’s a long drive from the lush Pacific Northwest through mountains to the desert valleys. I love seeing the changing landscape. There are long stretches with no amenities. It’s just you and the open road. I’ve done this drive several times. It’s a mixture of dread (because once you’re in it, you have to keep going) and elation (because I have a strong case of wanderlust that I try to temper so I can have a more stable life).

I have a lot to do while I’m there. It’s going to be a relief to finally break ties with Nevada. I left everything back in 2023 and never had the time to go back and clean it up. It’ll be a load off my mind to settle it once and for all.

Once I’m back from Las Vegas, I’ll be digging into book 4 of the Singed Series. I’ll announce on socials and my blog when I start posting new content, so you won’t miss out!
