Thank You/Meetup

Hi Guys, 

Thank you for all your help in spreading the word about the release of Corrupt Obsession and posting reviews and edits and all the things! I couldn't do this without your help!

I think we'll do the meetup this coming Saturday, April 5, 2PM PDT on Discord. If you can't make it, you can still submit questions through this form and I'll pass through the chat the following day. This isn't just a Q&A, but a meetup for all of us to gather and discuss the story. 

Here are some of the questions that were submitted:

**I didn't answer questions that refer to future plot points, motivations of characters, or things I want to leave up to readers interpretation. 

Q: In the deleted scenes it looks like Jesse slept with other women before he came back to Vi after two months. If he was so in love with her why did he do that?

I notice a lot of people focusing on details in the deleted scenes. If the scene isn’t included in the finished manuscript, it isn’t relevant to the story. They’re ideas and alternative routes the story/characters could have taken. 

There are many different versions of the characters. In the early drafts, Jesse’s personality was very brash and arrogant and that’s how I rewrote the bonus scene of Corrupt Idol. That was before I found out how they parted, what led up to it, or had a sense of Jesse or Violet’s personalities at this stage. In the updated version of the bonus scene, Jesse is a little more mature, if still unhinged.

I included the bonus/alternative scenes to show the evolution of the writing process, but maybe in future I shouldn’t since readers feel conflicted about various drafts. 

Q: Did Lynne know?

I’ll leave this up to readers to decipher. 

Q: Was Jesse's crying at his departure party genuine or it was just to soften Violet?

In my opinion, it was genuine. 

Q:  Jasmine for the Singed series and Violet for Corrupt Idol? Is it a coincidence that both characters are named after flowers?

Yes. Someone only recently pointed this out. For Jasmine, I was thinking of princess names rather than the flower and as for Violet, I just liked the name and thought it was complimentary beside Jesse. 

Q: How was it writing a male POV?

It’s not the first time I’ve written male POV. I did dual POVs in my Crime Lord Series and while I’ve been writing the Singed Series, I’ve also been writing Roth’s POV, so it’s not unusual for me. I think what was unique about this experience was that Jesse was leading? I felt like it was more his book than Violet’s. I enjoy writing male POV, but it’s much more revealing and straightforward than female POV, which is why I don’t always show it. 

Q: Any reason you chose Airforce and Japan (over other armed services or cities) for Jesse?

My dad is an Air Force veteran, and these are the places he was stationed. 

Q: I know you said there are lots of things you would’ve changed about Corrupt Idol. Can you name one (or two, lol) that you feel it would’ve made a difference in the plot?

I don’t think I would have changed the plot. If I was to rewrite, it would be tweaking their dialogue/inner monologues and fleshing out more to support their past, if I had known about it all. 

Q: In scale of the most emotionally draining book to write, in what order you put the prequel?

I would say Bitter Confessions is at the top, but this comes right after it. 

Q: What would you write if you had the free time to do so?

One of my 3 main series—Crime Lord, Singed, or Possessing Violet Series. 

Q: What was Jesse planning to ask Vi about their future (before the blue bonnet scene)? To go to the same college?

He wanted to discuss what path he should take—military or college because those are vastly different lifestyles and if she were a part of his future, she should be a part of that decision. 

Q: Is the next book in the Possessing Violet series the last?

I won’t know until I write it. My ideas for the sequel may change over time so we’ll see. 

Q: After what Jesse did, will Violet still be a believer in God? How does she conceive of religion?

In Corrupt Idol, Violet mentions how she feels about God and religion several times. We’ll see how her relationship with religion evolves in the sequel.
