His thumb caressed her skin. “I’d rather hear it from you.”
She looked out the window, miffed that he hadn’t denied that her guards weren’t documenting her every move.
“That’s their job,” he said, correctly interpreting the tense silence.
“To tell you what I ordered in a coffee shop, and how long I spent talking to Sarai? Why would they need to document something like that?”
“Because six months from now, you could receive a stalker letter or photographs of what you did today, and you’d be hard-pressed to remember where you went and why.”
She stared at him, speechless, but he wasn’t finished.
“Others may have their own observation reports of your movements, your security, your habits. I intend to be a step ahead of everyone and be ready for any circumstance.” He took in her blank expression and shook his head. “You have no idea.”
“And you do?”
He stared straight ahead, the lines in his face deepening as he frowned. “Too many. That isn’t happening on my watch.”
“You’re scaring me.”
“You’re safe.”
