“Do you attend all of his meetings?”
“Most of them.”
“Does he do anything illegal?”
Sarai’s open expression didn’t alter as she said, “I think that’s something you should ask him.”
Although she already suspected he wasn’t clean, her heart sank. “I see.”
Sarai squeezed her hand. “Regardless of what comes, he’ll take care of you. That’s all you need to know, right? Just trust him.”
That’s what she was trying to do, but self-preservation was paramount. Sarai’s non-answer reminded her she could never let down her guard completely where he was concerned.

If they want to build something there should be honesty and knowing everything is the beginning. How can you create an honest connection if it’s a fact he will hide a part of him. She signed up for this shit and now she wants to know the whole package the ugly pretty and gross. Also what is the point of a couple if they aren’t a united force…because the shit will hit the fan and then what…deal with the unknown?

Being involved in that sort of business puts another target on her and her family’s back, so it’s good for her to be aware of the potential for danger. But then again, her whole family is probably involved in something illegal…so Jasmine should leave it alone.
