“And in return you sign the divorce papers and promise to stay away from Jasmine.”

He raised a brow. “If she hates me, why the condition to stay away from her?”

“She doesn’t need a reminder of past mistakes when she’s trying to move on.” He wasn’t able to keep the anger out of his voice. He tried to hide his agitation with a negligent shrug. “Then again, I could be putting more importance on you than is necessary. She’s already moved on.”

That got a rise out of him. Roth’s hand was balled into a fist at his side. He had every intention of seeing her safely married to one of her peers so she would forever be out of Roth’s reach. And if he couldn’t accomplish that, he would give her the means to protect herself.

But, all of that was probably unnecessary. Roth was a man who knew when to cut his losses. Once Roth began to accomplish his goals, he would forget a failed marriage that had gained him nothing but problems. The sooner Jasmine exited his life, the sooner they would cease to exist for each other.
