“It’s been a year. I would think by now, even you would get the picture. She never wants to see you again.”
“We’re married.”
“That will be rectified.”
“Not without my consent.”
He turned from the flames dancing over shards of glass and birchwood. “That’s why I’m here. She wants out of this joke of a marriage, and I’m going to make sure it happens.”
Roth surveyed him for a moment before he said, “She can have her divorce. All she has to do is see me.”
Stubborn bastard. He insisted on talking to her because there was a chance he could change her mind. He suspected the same thing, which is why it wasn’t going to happen. His daughter was too soft-hearted. Good thing he wasn’t afflicted with such emotions. He wasn’t sure what Roth did to cause his daughter to hide herself away for the past year, but he would make sure he paid dearly for it.

I wonder where she went during that time. I want angst, pining and begging from Roth. That’s real! That’s raw. I can’t see him being ‘soft’ or even loveable. He’s torture and so is his love.
