“Wait, Jasmine,” Roth barked, his loud voice easily carrying in the quiet.
She waited in the foyer, examining the antler chandelier overhead while Roth and their security, eight men in total, bustled in. Roth had a gun in his hand while the rest of the men were more subtle with their hands under their jackets. She was too exhausted to be phased by such things.

Things start to take a turn in book 4. Roth's business dealings and other things hinted at in previous books start to materialize... Kind of cryptic, but it'll make sense later!

Now that I've read Confessions, Jasmine not caring at all makes so much more sense. By the end of the book she was barely standing!
