“Did he really cheat?”

When Sarai tilted her head to the side, scrutinizing her, she tensed.

“What?”

“You don’t have to answer, but I’ve always wanted to know…”Sarai mouthed more than said, “Did he really cheat?”

Her stomach tightened. “You tell me.”

Sarai jerked like a puppet on a string. “What are you talking about?”

“In the three years you’ve worked with him, have you ever seen him with anyone?”

Sarai stared at her like a deer in the headlights. “He’d already been divorced a year by the time he brought me on. I don’t know what happened before. He didn’t say why you divorced. In the book, the reason Juliet leaves Rex is because she catches him cheating.”

She slouched in her seat. “Roth says he didn’t.”

“But you think he did?”

“We spent our marriage in different countries. He did some things which led me to believe he was having an affair.”

Sarai mulled that over before she said tentatively, “But you had other reasons for leaving him besides that?”

“Yes.”

Sarai nodded, looking more intrigued than put off by this new information.

“Have you ever seen him with anyone?” she blurted and then immediately held up her hands. “No, don’t tell me. I don’t want to know.” It shouldn’t matter to her. She’d been getting her rocks off, so if he had too, she wasn’t allowed to get pissed… That wouldn’t stop her, though. Sarai gave her a sympathetic look that set her teeth on edge. “Forget I asked.”
