She swallowed hard as a tear slipped out of the corner of her eye. “I’m sorry. My mind is all fucked up.”
“What’d they say to you?”
“Nothing I didn’t know.” That she was blind and stupid and knew nothing about the true nature of the only man she’d ever loved. Despite her fervent denials, she knew they were partially right. She would never know everything about him. She looped her arms around his neck and buried his face against his neck. “Fuck me.”
One hand smoothed up her side and cupped her breast. “We’re in this together. Nothing they say matters.”
“I know.”
“Do you?”
Her throat thickened as she warred within herself. “You said I always had you. Did you mean it?”
