Private Chef Lot Trait
Added 2024-02-25 19:39:59 +0000 UTCQuick Little Mod I put together after discovering the "Hire Chef" option from the Dine Out cooking stations. I noticed that LilMissSam's Auto Employees mod didn't include options for Chefs so I decided to make my own.
For those that haven't seen it, when you place a chef's station in a non-restaurant lot, you can "Hire a Chef" for 800 Simoleons. Now you might be wondering what the difference is between this and the base game Caterer. Well Caterer's will show up on your lot, start a bunch of meals, finish may be one of them, and then leave. Obviously the intended functionality is for them to cook several meals for you, but I've rarely had that happen and you have no control over the menu beyond deciding to hire a vegetarian caterer.
Meanwhile Hiring a Chef basically turns any lot into a functional Self Service restaurant without all the clunkiness of the existing restaurant venue. Your sims can just walk up to the chefs station and order anything that can be ordered from a restaurant. The chef will do their animation and then your sims pick up the food when it's done.
With this lot trait, those chefs don't need to be hired. They will simply automatically spawn. HOWEVER I did call the lot trait private chef for a reason. On community Lots, the chef's don't cost money to hire. But when used on residential lots, you will be charged the 800 whenever a Chef spawns.
