floating in crystal, clear water
her hair is all around her like a golden halo
surrounding her
she breathes in
and her thoughts come rushing back
but when she breathes out
the world becomes beautiful, peaceful
because she finally gets her release
as she sinks to the deep,
her mind wanders
to places where she's only dreamed of
so she opens her eyes and her heart
to her monsters
and lets them consume her
but she remembers suddenly
these monsters are her own
things that need to be dealt with
so when her feet hit the smooth bottom
she bounces off
and kicks
and climbs
to the surface
and remembers
HER
monsters.
