Good Change to Membership Billing!
Added 2024-10-06 01:56:09 +0000 UTC
To all my current and former patrons/supporters, subs to my Patreon are now switched to "subscription billing". What does this mean? New members who currently join will now be charged on the day they are subbed, just like other subscription services you might know like Crunchyroll or Netflix; it used to be that new members might support on like 30th of October... and then get charged again on the 1st of November - thankfully its not like this anymore!
Big thanks again to those who are currently supporting me on here! Now that the Halloween debut stream has finished, I should have some new posts on here very soon~

Several months now. Pink-sama, who makes Genshin Impact animations used to have that exact plan setup before the change, and they earned a lot on it.

2024-10-06 13:16:52 +0000 UTCNah, if people are just gonna do that, then they wouldn’t be subscribing in the first place. It’s supposed to be for those thinking about becoming a patron, so they can see exactly what you’re putting out before they decide if they wanna support you or not, it’s a great way to catch up all those who are considering supporting, but not sure yet.

2024-10-06 13:15:46 +0000 UTCA free trial, what...? people would just then join the free trial and cancel right before the charge - that makes no sense at all

2024-10-06 13:12:18 +0000 UTCI get that, but that’s only if you have that plan setting enabled, if you have the one I was talking about enabled, in that situation you’d get that one day free, and then be charged on the first of the next month, which doesn’t lead to a double charge. So really, what they should’ve done is just remove that plan setting that leads to a double charge instead, that way you get the best of both. You make it so that there’s no way possible of getting double charged, but also let people explore your content as a small free trial, which leads to more people becoming interested in your content and can lead to more revenue. (Of course, I know it’s not up to Patreon though, these changes are due to Apple and their subscription model now being enforced on all apps. They’re tightening their grip on the App Store, most likely because of the fact that the EU now has successfully sanctioned Apple to allow sideloading on all iPhones and iPads, leading to a pretty big loss in revenue for them, as theoretically, apps that are only in the EU can pull their app from the App Store and rather just have it be sideloaded instead, bypassing the 30% cut that Apple gets from all in app purchases.)

2024-10-06 12:31:39 +0000 UTCHmm, I never looked at it that way - the reason why I say its a good change is because lets say a person subscribes on Oct. 31 - that person would also get charged on Nov. 1 since it is a new month which leads to an unfortunate double charge - this new change helps out people from making such mistakes... x:

2024-10-06 12:12:51 +0000 UTCWell, personally I don’t like this change, as it also removed the option to have you subscribe at any time and then get charged on the first of every month, essentially giving you a free trial so you could see if you wanted to continue supporting them or not.
