Ep 360 - Fuhad opens up

Aww fuhad. I felt his ADHD chat. Theres a lot to be said for feeling validated and having all the parts fall into place. ❤️

Shari O'Hare

AITA fuhad read that she had told him she wasn’t up for it after the baby and he didn’t listen to her

Why is this video unavailable?

Pyp—I don’t think they thought about the fact that once they go to jail they’ll still be getting gripsed by the people there too

Sharae

I'm surprised Fuhad was diagnosed. Because I always thought James had ADHD. But props to you and your journey! Glad to hear it's already bringing you mental relief to start the rediscovery of you.

Amarina Art

My brother got diagnosed with ADHD as a child after having a 10 minute assessment, was supposed to be an hour. Immediately got diagnosed and was given medication- Ritalin. My mum said that for the first time since he could WALK this man sat down for 8 SOLID hours in one spot. Where as you couldn’t get him to sit still for 5 minutes. Like he was a DIFFERENT person. Now he’s an adult(29) he doesn’t take medication anymore and has learnt ways to deal with it in a way- it’s a good thing to have a diagnosis because you may not need medication just plans on how to deal with it

Tiffany Foster

They’re not women so how would they?

Vinny

I wonder if Fuhad is just too tired to mask in this ep, and if so fair!

Nicole Sims

Poor Fuhad is dead behind the eyes after James made it about him.... it's brave to open up the way Fuhad did, and so dissapointing to see him shut down.

MissMae

“Take all the drugs” had my lungs out of my body😭😭🤣❤️

Inathi Mshumpela

Fuhad, I felt encouraged hearing you share your experience with ADHD because I value awareness. I have ADHD combined type. The stimulant meds are definitely not a cure. For those without ADHD, taking stimulants help them be more focused. In folks with ADHD, the stimulant medications help our brains to function close to a neurotypical brain. Some patients with ADHD sleep better after taking their stimulants because their minds are less cluttered with random thoughts. I can take adderall 30mg and go to sleep. I’m a huge advocate for kids getting their diagnosis as in childhood so they can learn and practice strategies to live with an ADHD brain in a low stakes environment. I was diagnosed as an adult and learning more about my differences, coping strategies has been rewarding and stressful.

So James having a dinner date without Fuhad ? #tobyrevenge

Shirelle Forbes

So proud of you Fuhad for having this conversation about your journey with ADHD. I hope this encourages others to not be ashamed of wanting to have the knowledge about their ADHD. James wanting to protect DADDY 🥹❤ For the married couple, I agree that she should have communicated better with her husband about how she feels. For her to not have the conversation the first time it happened is not helping her situation. As you lovely gentlemen said the husband is seeing it from his point of view. But as a mother postpartum is no joke and having a three month old and having sex 6 times after birth is a lot on a women’s body and mental health. We can’t have sex 6 weeks after birth, on top of being fatigue, exhausted, stressed and having our periods again (some ladies still have their periods during pregnancy). There are many more reasons and sex is the very last thing on our minds. This can also make her mental health decline as she might even be going through postpartum depression. But like you said there wasn’t much context about this story.

Sorbie Ware Reece

I am merely another random fangirl, but man I am SO proud of you Fuhad - I know that takes a lot of strength and vulnerability. There are many versatile ways to approach and I have no doubt you'll find the best fit. I am also, after going on a mad binge am just proud of you ALL; Rem, Ellis, James, and Fuhad for how far you've come in such a short time. You are all wonderful, thank you for bringing some brightness to my days. I wish you all nothing but the best.

KBLovelock

Medication isn't the only route for assistance with adhd, there are therapies

Sophie Elliott

Good for you fuhad. I have combined ADHD myself and it has opened up so much for me, it is every common for people to be diagnosed later in life. I'm 26 and I was diagnosed 2 years ago.

Sophie Elliott

thank you for sharing Fuhad and for being vulnerable! idk i kinda wish james had reacted differently tho. like i get certain situations may be difficult but i just expected more from him.

Quianna Lige

loool i wrote this before james said the meds fuck you up😂😭 but hes not wrong appetite mood everything

dennen

i have had adhd for my whole life diagnosed and all i can say is i dont think medication is the right way to go man personally it dumbed me down a bit and changed me for the worse its better to just start to realise the things u do different and try adapt them if u need to🤷🏽‍♂️

dennen

So happy you opened up about ADHD I have recently be diagnosed with it and are now on meds for it, but I’m happy someone I really look up to has the same thing I do I guess and that’s exactly how I felt after being diagnosed I felt like a sense of relief coz I finally understood why I am the way I am :) good look on ur official assessment fuhad 🩷!

Amarni Mills

try Ox-tongue tacos. Yummy!!!!

Assoh Nibs

My parents wouldn’t let me get meds for my adhd as a teenager and I suffered. I started taking them as an adult and I cried because I finally felt normal. My whole life I was made to believe I just wasn’t working hard enough or good enough. I felt insane. So much wasted potential simply because my parents didn’t give me the tools. Now, as an adult I’m rebuilding the life I feel should have had and working on my first book.

Kiera Deseree

I was triggered too but a lot of black and brown people have a negative relationship with medication. Even over the counter ibuprofen for headaches. Ritalin is stimulant. It’s methylphenidate. Adderall is amphetamine/dextroamphetamine. They are both stimulants just different chemical compounds.

Janna

You guys never give from a girls/womens point of view what they could feel like

Abi

She just pushed a baby out of her vagina???

Abi

For the AITA both are wrong. She needs to communicate what she is feeling but he needs to hear her when she says no. I’m sure her no sounds different now then it did in the past. What she is feeling is not uncommon for women who just gave birth. If she has noticed a change in herself she needs to seek help. She has to be understanding of his needs like he needs to be understanding of hers. Helping her with baby and around the house so she can have her alone time is very important.

Ashaki

Yessssss Fuhad, I love that you get some relief! I have adhd myself and I did think I related to you so much.. I’ll be honest, there’s not a lot of support for adults with a new diagnosis.. but I hope you do get the help you want 🫶🏻 big moment for you 👌🏻

_MissMayyy

Hey just out of curiosity what where do I find the test

Joshua Brinn

Sending huge love to Fuhad. Big ups for talking about it not a lot of people are able to do that. 🤎🧡

Pholisa Fatyela

Sending Fuhad big love. As a fellow ND diagnosed last year at 35 yo (after my son was diagnosed as autistic, ADHD [AuDHD], PDA and my husband AuDHD), it’s been so affirming to understand how my brain works and how that impacts my work and relationship and myself. For instance it makes sense why Fuhad thrived in that fast paced restaurant job cause his brain needed it. Also ND folks tend to flock together… 👀 James 😝

Emma Aisya

I agree. My son was diagnosed and was started on a low dose so we’ve had to monitor and see how it affects him and if he’s adjusted. But similar to what Fuhad said, having that diagnosis was literally a weight lifted. It made his behavior explainable and understandable. But thankfully the medication didn’t change his personality, he’s still himself his brain just works a little differently.

Carlie

I was thinking the same thing. She could be going through postpartum depression and not realize it. It happened to me with my first son, there was days I could barely get myself to leave my bedroom and I didn't understand what was wrong with me and it was all because I was suffering with postpartum. Some meds really helped in my case. But I really feel for her because her life has flipped right upside down with a new baby taking up all of her time and the husband is definitely not realizing how hard it is for her.

Holly

You can take low dosages and not become reliant on your meds! I have ADHD and the amount of benefits I got from a low dose medication versus unmedicated was incredible. People who stay up all night are taking 30-60mg a day. I am not sure how it is in UK because I’m in the US but I have a lower milligram prescription that truly made me feel productive and proud and happy about myself. A good psychiatrist won’t over prescribe you. Xo love to you and thank you for being open about your diagnosis xx

Jessica Nauman

This makes me want Fuhad more, im still torn but geesh Fuhads full teeth laugh makes me weak

Bree Wilds

Fuhad I’ve got diagnosed with ADHD. When it comes to that, just follow your gut. If you feel like trying out medicine do it. Maybe ask If you can start at a lower dosis and then increase it when you don’t feel a difference. I feel like you don’t directly jump into the trance that comes with some of the ADHD drugs, because you will actually feel the difference as soon as the dosis is right for you. Often doctors just start at the highest dosis, which can be very scary and put you off from taking the meds.

Adina

I have ADHD... i was diagnosed by a doctor..... the medication is scary..... for me it tunres me into an unemotional robot....because of HOW high i am without them.... so emotional, happy, i even shake sometimes because of the energy level.....i have a tablet on the days i need to drive long distances or study for hours.....its not a fun pill to take..... i stared at a wall for an hour once because it makes you calm down and focus so hard......

Jaishil

With the AITA, I felt the same way after I had my son. Guys don’t understand that everything changes dramatically after you have a baby too. Chemically you’re all out of wack and you can be like that for years postpartum. And with a new baby who eats every 90 min, constantly needs you, you never have time to do the things you need to nevermind relax its overwhelming. She did tell him that she wants to initiate the sex but he didn’t listen to her. He needs to also understand that life is different now because there’s a child.

Harmonie Sturrup

that marshmallow comment had me crying at work 😭

something small and bite-sized, Death Note! Naruto is over 1k episodes

Henry Koleoso

You man are looking slim!!

Megan Hill

yeah trust, ive had it my whole life with no meds and with, and off meds is so much better for the long term !! My dad is also in the medical field and also has it and he highly suggests you get better ways to learn and understand how to i guess "cope" with it. Of course it varies each case but i wish you the best ! all love <3

j

start with Naruto

Mari

I work in a pharmacy and some of the ADHD medications that patients take seem to have them co-dependent to function. The pharmacist I work with say as an adult you should try to find ways to help with focus on your own beforehand.

I was diagnosed with ADHD in December. I feel you Fuhad. The diagnosis is a validation that you’re not broken, there is a reason. It feels freeing. I’ve tried different medications, trying to figure out what’s right for me. You got this.

I couldn’t lips everyone. But you know, I got ass for days 😭😭😭 grab it lmao

Ankerria Johnson

Fuhad I love you so much. I have friends around me that deal with the same thing. The relief and the acceptance they have bring their true selves has been crazy. They seem empowered and ready to go for whatever. It’s love

Ankerria Johnson

I want to see it

Ankerria Johnson

Do you guys hang out, outside of here?

Just to let yall know food doesn’t slap that’s not what that word means slap is about the bass slapping the trunk of a car. Food is fire not slap.

BigDawg420

That’s literally what I wrote. Apologies if it seemed like I was having a go at you. I was also just stating an opinion that what you deem as normal everyday life is not the same for those with ADHD

Taryn Tahitahi

First and foremost, thank you Fuhad for sharing. You have started a new journey within yourself that will bring you clarity, relief and comfort. You will know what is best for you once you and your doctors figure everything out. Not everything works for everyone so there may be some trial and error but you are on the right path to understanding yourself. Congrats and good luck. You are not alone and besides your real life loved ones, you have cult babies who support you and will always be here for you. I don’t often comment in here but I am going to weigh-in on the comments about James’ reaction because I understand both sides of the coin of where people are coming from. This is obviously just my opinion and fellow cult babies can agree or disagree or read it or ignore it. It’s all good either way, this is a safe space. As a person who suffers from a chemical imbalance, I initially was upset by James’ comment about the ADHD medication because I know the comment is not factually accurate. I did want to scream at my TV “James! Stop talking!!!” I think most of us did. It was uncomfortable. But after I stewed in my initial opinion, I thought the following: 1. James gets uncomfortable with serious situations that he doesn’t know a lot about, that he wasn’t expecting to hear about and that is happening to someone he cares about. Admittedly he said he gets uncomfortable and doesn’t know what to say. 2. Fuhad is James’ bestest of bestest friends. We know how important he is to James and knowing what we know of James, it would eat at him knowing that Fuhad was going through something physically, medically, mentally and/or the thought of Fuhad thinking he was anything less than the terrific person he is. 3. James will likely feel 5% mad that a lot of these comments are dissing him, but more importantly he will feel 95% bad that he came across in a way that he would never intentionally want to come across and it will probably make him feel sick if he thinks for one minute he made Fuhad feel unsupported. 4. This is a Patreon episode. This didn’t go out to the whole world. This is a place where we can make mistakes, learn, grow, be vulnerable, be mad, sad or whatever. It is a safe space to be human. 5. At the end of the day, as Fuhad learns more about what he is going through, James is going to learn more about what Fuhad is going through. He is going to be more educated and will support Fuhad 100% like he always has done. He loves Fuhad and Fuhad loves him. They are family, bro’s, boys, besties forever. So after I thought about all that, I wasn’t upset anymore. Fuhad, I love you. James, I love you. We all love you both and support you always. xo

Andy Foley

As someone who was just diagnosed with ADHD and grappled with the reality of taking meds, this was very refreshing to hear. <3

bubz

Sending love to Fuhad as someone who also has ADHD and it makes me wild anxious. I’m getting meds as well, it’s a process, be easy with yourself. ❤️

Ayo Cherry

Also on AITA…she obviously has post partum depression and she should probably talk to her OB.

Brandi E

A gimp suit in public is literally not a big deal. Maybe bc I’m from NYC and we’re pretty much desensitized 🤷🏽‍♀️

Brandi E

I’m also glad that you and your wife had great communication and could figure it out and nip it in the bud quickly cuz it doesn’t happen like that for everyone.

Porscha Sims

Absolutely! Unfortunately it’s not always rational for everyone and not everyone’s kicks in right away. On both parties it’s not ideal I just know at three months after having the baby he’s gotta remember she just had a whole ass baby and going back to normal ish could be problematic especially if she’s just a dead fish and not participating. I hate it for both of them!!

Porscha Sims

Aw Fuhad really wasn’t himself this whole episode, it was sad to see. He looks really down ☹️ but thank you for sharing your journey with us Fuhad!

Sharla Nolan

Fuhad respect. I know exactly where you’re coming from, I’m the same myself & my cousin too. We have different types though, he has been on different meds & yeah his had different outcomes, so just be mindful. He suffered with bad headaches & got sleepy. He did say when his on them things seem more calm & he can focus more, but can feel when they wear off. Anyway yeah just thought I’d give my 50p worth 🤪🤣hope you get what you need!!

Tanya Isabella

It was so great hearing you open up, Fuhad. Wishing you all positivity on the journey to deal with and cope with your diagnosis. Also really nice for you to come straight out the gate with it at the beginning of the ep since you could see your friends clocked that something was off. ❤️😊 BLESS‼️

Jocelyn Howard

My wife is going through the posts atm, we are lucky that are comms were always up up, because else we would’ve been struggling now! As a woman u are dealing with hormones that make u into feel and act different, and that can make a man insecure. So its hard on both but easy to fix with good communication and understanding!

Maki

I think James meant well and was concerned about his friend, but I was disappointed in his comments today on ADHD and ADHD meds. I think commenting and making statements without an understanding on the subject particularly with such a large listener base was very irresponsible

CrysCross

Adhd meds balance ur focus if you don’t have Adhd and take them that’s when the hyperfixation component comes in😇🙌🏾

Taelor High♈️

Fuhad thank you for sharing! Getting a diagnosis can be such a relief and I hope this journey continues to be enlightening for you

Mandipa

And normal for you isn’t normal for him. Everyone has a different normal. It’s my opinion. Everyone has an opinion. No need to keep going back and forth about my opinion. Obviously you didn’t read my other response, that said if that’s what he wants to do. JESUS CHRIST! All these extra long responses about my opinion is crazy. It was a statement for Fuhad. And a different statement amidst all these similar statements that everyone has commented. I just have a different mindset from yall. A different point of view is allowed.

Kaneka Edwards

But it’s not a perfectly normal life for him? I would say it’s been a struggle and for those that have used meds it’s not always an everyday thing it’s an as needed thing and it helps to calm the brain, helps to sleep, helps to focus on just the one thing. Just because he’s lived 32/33 years without diagnosis and meds doesn’t mean it’s been easy for him. I’m in the process of getting a diagnosis and if there’s techniques or meds that can help with everyday tasks like being able to focus and listen to someone or being able to get more than 3 hours sleep every night I’m all for it. Normal for you is not normal for everyone.

Taryn Tahitahi

Sooo the Am I the asshole, it sounds like she might have postparpartum depression. Sometimes moms can’t articulate that and she feels that way because it’s ONLY been three months. Poor thing. Good for you Fuhad!!!💜

Porscha Sims

Finally understanding you have ADHD and finding out you have it is the biggest relief after years of not having a diagnosis and an answer, for years it was just put down to depression and anxiety but seeing now how it's all linked is such a relieving feeling. Thank you for being so open about it x

Nimma

I can’t be the only one waiting for that story update 👀 you know the one with the guy locked up. I wait for it every week 🙈

Robyn

I know how you feel Fuhad - just know you’re not alone! Once you understand everything it makes things so much clearer. This biggest shock is realising things you struggle with and criticise about yourself are a symptom and not just a bad trait and the realisation not everyone has the same issues. Thanks for being open about it x

Charlotte Hawes

I listen to podcast DOAC and learned from one of the interviews that the less sleep women have the less sex drive they get so maybe i would guess, since she hadnt had good enough sleep since giving birth tht impacted her sex drive. So good idea for both women and men, let women sleep at least 7 to 8 hrs a day and the drive would be up!!!

Nicole Uy

I know what it feels like, Fuhad. I was diagnosed last year with ADHD. It's a relief and it fucks with you a little at the same time. You should be really proud of what you've achieved with ADHD and without treatment! <3 P.s. the meds don't fuck you up if you're on the right dose. Just work with your doctor, and figure out which one works for you. The meds make my life 10 times easier.

Ashley

what was the fit watch you guys use that seems to work? I only do running, stairmaster, and lifting. sometimes pilates but thats about it. Just want the basics. maybe heart rate, sleep etc.

Nicole Uy

maybe Fuhad try hormonal treatment before medication. I think hormonal treatment is like trying to balance the hormones that may be overproduced or under because of ADHD by adjusting the diet. Like some foods may be triggering so best to eat less or none, find alternative. Or like eat more of this food. Do exercise during this time. Those kinds of things. I know medication is better cause the effect is more instantaneous but there are side effects in it. So maybe try natural treatment first, slowburn but it still helps.

Nicole Uy

Which test did you take Fuhad?

Taylor Ellermeier

I appreciate the transparency from both guys. I wish Fuhad the absolute best with his journey, whether it’s with meds or behavioral cognitive therapy. That breath of relief after a proper diagnosis? I GET IT lol. I also appreciate the raw reaction from James. It can be difficult to hear that your friend is experiencing something that you may not be able to fully help with. But these guys have been friends for years for a reason, they’ll get through this adjustment just like every other one before.

Kay

Comforting someone and saying the right things doesn’t come naturally to everyone, especially when they aren’t expecting it. Some friends just aren’t made for that and that’s ok. It’s their friendship so I’m sure they understand each other. Yea I said yikes when I heard his response too but I don’t think it’s quite that deep y’all 😬

Jamar

Fuhad im so proud of you for speaking about this! Im a pharmacist and i can tell you for sure that the meds are actually very calming and let your brain focus without feeling overwhelmed. A close friend of mine also got diagnosed with ADHD and the meds changed her life to the better. Just side note- if you have anxiety, ADHD meds may worsen anxiety and is definitely something you should bring up with your doctor🤍

Nour Mroue

No she is absolutely not the asshole!!! Also him guilt tripping her about not wanting sex is so toxic. He’s not respecting her boundaries she’s set.

Charmayne Merrill

Definitely don’t think it’s toxic. But none of us know him personally. I just stated my opinion on what I’ve viewed over the last year or two. And I’m just saying, if he indeed does end up on “medication/s” it could very well turn him into a different person, than who he is now. Medication could have a positive or negative effect. So don’t do it if it’s because of what society thinks is to be normal, but if “he” thinks he needs to than go for it. But thank you for your viewpoint 😊

Kaneka Edwards

I don’t think he would do anything for societal reasons, that doesn’t track with what we know of him. As someone whose life is astronomically better because of my diagnosis and medication, I think this is a bit of a toxic viewpoint to put on someone.

Charmayne Merrill

I honestly think yes totally fine that you be tested and have a proper diagnosis @Fuhad. But you’ve gone 32/33 years without the diagnosis and or drugs for said diagnosis. You’ve been living a perfectly normal life, up until this point, Why give in to societal beliefs?. You are you! Have been you all your life. Medication could change everything for you, thinking that you on medication is you being a normal/regular person. You’re already that. This indeed was a heavy episode, although yall tried to mask it. I definitely recognized the difference. And as I said before, a proper diagnosis is great. But you are still you. And you’re “rich” and famous now. There’s really no need to conform to societal beliefs about how your brain should function ❤️. (unless that’s what you’d like for yourself, of course 🥰)

Kaneka Edwards

Also attention is such a small portion of adhd . It tends to come with Depression. Anxiety. Obsessive-compulsive disorder .Autism spectrum disorder

T A

James I’m sorry but what are you talking about … no they don’t. People get hyper focussed on meds when they don’t have ADHD. It literally just calms you brain so you don’t have a million thoughts in your head . It’s like you can hear yourself think

T A

@fuhad, good for you for taking the steps toward a healthier future! I know what it’s like to have 0 peace in your mind. much love ❤️

Ariyonna

Are they single ?

Nila Randolph

James with a big miss this episode. Normally you charge it when he goes off on one of his bullshit opinions but anyone who needs to take meds, do NOT listen to ya boy

Dan Brown

Mmmmmm I love James but he did not pass the vibe check this episode. Everything he said about ADHD and his responses for FUHAD were absolutely shit. He has a very narrow minded view of what FUHAD us going through and to not just support your friend when they are talking about something so vulnerable was a piss take. He gave me the ick today 🥴

Khala Torres-Finch

It’s actually less than 7% of the population have adhd. Just seems like “everyone has it now” because it was only studied in little white boys who tend to present in a very particular way. girls for example exhibit vastly different symptoms and behaviors and so from a diagnostic standpoint were over looked by teachers, parents and medical professionals. I’m a 37 woman, diagnosed 2 years ago when I started working on my degree and my coping strategies that had help me get by (and hide it) weren’t cutting it. We know more about it than ever and there’s less of a stigma, my whole life I thought I had these massive character flaws, was stupid, lazy, crazy etc when really it’s just my brain functions differently and I didn’t have appropriate tools to thrive in this society.

Courtney

Fair play to Fuhad for sharing that, appreciate that 👍🏻

Daniel Archer

I have also been diagnosed with ADHD and it brought be so much relief. I was told about a few medications, and had to try a few before i found one that worked. Proud of you Fuhad, keep learning about it because ADHD really can effect every aspect of your life, it certainly does mine

Teejay

It was super triggering for me too. Lots of people think this way about mental health and adhd medications in particular. They don’t understand the neuroscience behind how/why medications work with different brain chemistry’s. yes people ABUSE stimulant meds, (adderall is a stimulant, Ritalin is not) but it doesn’t work that way if for people’s brains are neurodivergent and they take appropriate doses.

Courtney

Also there the post partum crash. Hope her and her man talk it out 😕

Humi

I’m glad Fuhad felt that he could share that little bit of info on the podcast. He looks so smol now 🥺 but in a brave sort of way y’know?

Humi

I also experienced the same relief getting my diagnosis for ADHD. It's like you weren't crazy to be wondering why lots of things are so hard for me when it's so easy for others

Gracie.matilda

Fuhads explaining his relief brought tears to my eyes. its like realizing there absolutely nothing wrong with you. meanwhile your wondering why you cant do what other people do.. thank you for saying it at the beginning then the end. LOVE LOVE LOVE

Whitney

People who don’t need them abusing them is the exact reason we have a shortage in the US. So now us who actually need them to function can’t get them.

Janna

@Fuhad! I’m so happy you are getting the answers and the relief/validation of knowing that all the struggles you’ve been having are because of your diagnosis. I find as an adult with ADHD- people think certain things are flaws in my personality (procrastination, lack of attention span, etc.) when it’s really due to my ADHD and struggles with executive dysfunction. Wish you the best!

Brianna Parker

I was literally coming to say that same thing. People who whose the meds recreationally can be scary and fiendish, but since I actually need the meds it helps me focus. I could take my meds (which are a relatively high dose), do a simple task, and then take a nap.

Brianna Parker

6 weeks

Nikkie Jay

I have ADHD and I was on medication but that shit made me irritated easily. This podcast helps me focus while I’m working, I’m not sure how but it helps. Somedays it sucks because I can’t get my brain to focus for shit, its just on airplane mode. I wasn’t diagnosed until a year ago and I’m still trying to figure out what works for me

Kayla Rodriguez

She isn’t an asshole. Aren’t supposed to wait 6 months before you have sex after birth???? Having said that, why can’t she just state her boundaries with her husband?

Kye

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 to Fuhad for being so open and honest. ❤️❤️❤️

Stacey Barnett-Jones

Love to you Fuhad! It’s so refreshing to find out you’re not alone! I understand James feeling uncomfortable feeling like his friend is struggling because he’s unsure but we all love these episodes! Nothing dark about it, it’s all love🤍

Rajanee Wilson

My son was diagnosed with ADHD at 7 years old. Super smart kid but we knew there was something extra going on. Hang in there Fuhad. Glad you can put a name to what you've probably felt your whole life. Now you can take steps to move forward with better knowledge of self. Also, I'd be pissed if my bestie had a famous chef cook for him and didn't invite me over. But maybe it didn't fit with Fuhad's schedule. That's the only excuse I'll rock with.

Dreampoet

I don’t know about the UK but In the US literally everyone is on the spectrum or has some form of ADHD

Lasha Hartfield

I’m sure “the man” wouldn’t be handing out big pharma meds for the riches of the owners… he gave us the seed in which we grow…

Daniel Wilson

what was the test fuhad took 😭 i might need it

Ren

The medications are stimulants because our brains are under stimulated. It’s replacing the chemicals our brains already lack. If you give stimulants to a neurotypical person they will get basically high and cracked out. But since we already lack those chemicals it mellows us out. It’s hard to explain I highly suggest lots of research.

Janna

Smh. “The man” gave us the resources, know how, and accessibility to medication to help us heal. Have you ever heard that story about the drowning man begging God for help? God sent three boats but the man was waiting on some extraterrestrial miracle or something. He drowned.

jstargirl

I was diagnosed ADHD in elementary school (back then they didn’t separate it). I’m also autistic. My son is also AuDHD. He has combined type ADHD. I personally would not have survived life this far if it weren’t for meds. Fuhad if you ever need to talk with someone about what life is like being neurodivergent I’m here and in the Discord. Feel free to shout. I’m proud of you for getting the answers you need for your own clarity and acceptance 💕 James support your friend. If he thinks med will improve his quality of life then why wouldn’t you want that for him? We as black and brown people have to stop the stigma against mental health. We have to! We deserve help!

Janna

If you had a cold, you take meds. Meds are NOT CRAZY. James PLEASE educate yourself especially since you have a huge audience and a best friend who may be neurodivergent. I’m trying so hard not to be pissed off by James’ response since I know it’s due to ignorance and not cruelty.

jstargirl

No no no. The way people are having a full blown conversation with me, I’ve been actively listening and then I just zone out. Not because I’m bored or preoccupied, but my brain just goes somewhere else.

Kye

I did the same type of test as Fuhad and realised I’m on the SCALE autistic and I felt so fucking relieved. I totally hear you Fuhad. It’s really good to see more black people being clinically diagnosed. Helps heal the inner child ❤️

Chy

God i love yall but listening to James toxic ass view points on a topic he clearly knows nothing about is not going to help Fuhad on his journey at all

Rayvin

Why didn’t James invite Fuhad to The chef dinner? I could see James being upset if it was the other way around?

Gina

Speaking of Spectrum there’s a new season of Love on the Spectrum James got me hooked on that show

Annique Lowe

I thought James was hyper ADHD FROM DAY 1

Gina

They have non stimulant meds too Fujad

Gina

ADHD stimulant meds are legal meth!!

Gina

Also, I hope Fuhad has some other people he can speak with that might be a safer space for him to discuss this stuff. Because of James’ admission that he gets uncomfortable with serious topics, he’s marginalizing (not maliciously, just real talk) Fuhad’s experience. I hope that Fuhad doesn’t get deterred and keeps on his path to improvement. He is absolutely right that trying to explain it to people that don’t have it is difficult.

Charlotte Carroll

Thank you so much for saying this! A lot of the comments, and even James, are misinformed. But when people present something as truth people might just take them at their word and not research more. Also, I love that Rem and Fuhad both said something about there being nothing wrong with meds, bc it was reading as (unintentional) shaming, which I know James would never intentionally do. Also, some people have said their fear is that OCD, ADHD, GAD make them who they are—but that is actually a coping mechanism they have developed. I use to feel that way, and finally got on meds and realize that it simply takes the edge off so there isn’t so much extra energy wasted on existing or treading water. Good for FUHAD!

Charlotte Carroll

I'm a neuroscientist, maybe I can give a little insight on the ADHD meds. Essentially, people with ADHD have a neurotransmitter imbalance, namely dopamine. This means their brains are constantly chasing this dopamine by wanting new input, new stimulation, new things, trying to trigger the reward system which releases dopamine. Taking ADHD meds levels out the dopamine, so patients can focus, without their brains constantly fighting for a new "reward experience". Neurotypical people don't have this imbalance, so taking ADHD meds gives them unnaturally high levels of dopamine, which can be abused as a recreational drug.

Juri

You guys should do an episode instead of doing the pod maybe do an episode where you try one of these restaurants and vlog and talk about the experience

Joseph Carrejo

Ellis was just looking for a invite outside the studio 😩🩵🩵

Respect to Fuhad - can’t have been easy opening up but just know that you’ve helped so many others as a result G

Sami Nur

ADHDaddy Fuhad!! (Pause) We are here for it G!! Hopefully it’s a light dose of meds they put you on my sister got diagnosed with ADHD when she was 24 and her dose was apparently pretty light she is still the same person. We can’t lose one of our cult daddies but on the same note get the help you need. All love.

My husband and I struggled when our son was diagnosed with ADHD and they suggested medications for him. The final straw was seeing how much he was struggling in school. Not just academically but socially. Finally my mom said, “if he had a broken arm would you just leave it like that or seek help from a doctor and treat it?”. It was eye opening for us and let me tell you; after medication - he finally has close friends, he has no meltdowns over trivial matters, his grades are great and he has built up skills that he didn’t have the ability to focus on before, even though he knew he enjoyed them. There are still people in our lives who voice their negative opinions but, until you’ve truly lived with this kind of diagnosis and seen its effects firsthand - you truly have no idea what you would do in that situation. I know that he was hurting and now I see him thriving. I pray for nothing but the best for you Fuhad and you’re not alone. 🥲

Mandi

I have inattentive ADHD and ASD it’s really refreshing to hear you guys talking so openly good luck Fuhad❤️

Tabitha

Being a boy mom is the best! Congrats ♥️

Rylee harden

Amazing episode as always and Im so thankful for u speaking up of adhd my partner has it and I feel like when your a child it’s openly discussed with but when your an adult it becomes invisble like a taboo and it effects everything in his daily life from spontaneous spending to him losing things constantly that are right in front of him and also not being able to process information I can speak to him and he’s engaging in conversation yet 15/20 mins later he’s not remembered a single thing As always brilliant show and I love how u guys can go from serious to silly 😜 perfect combination

Shelliemarie Trayford

I love you guys and your authenticity so so much❤️❤️

Nikki

We appreciate the vulnerable share. Shit ain’t easy out here in these neurospicy streets. This is a very big first step! Mad love for Fuhad! I hope the boys don’t feel too much pressure to deliver the gigs constantly. There is a time and place for different conversations and you all navigated it so beautifully. Thank you!

Bilen Berhanu

The fact that a lot of people can relate to FuFu just shows how important it is to speak about these things. Thank you for being open and trusting your audience about your ADHD. And James, you’re a real one for being protective and trying to look out for your friend ! Gang Gang

GADDY

Ps I have mad ocd and ADHD 42 now and living with it cos if I suppress that then I lose who I am… and people love me for me I wouldn’t wanna change that

Daniel Wilson

My brother please stay away from meds…. Keep contact with the man like triple D he’s the only meds you need, ADHD meds will take away the essence of you personally… you have lived this many years self managing and self medicating just continue this way or look for more natural remedies,, your adhd is half your personality And that creates a great chemistry on screen… be strong don’t change broski

Daniel Wilson

I just got diagnosed with ADHD at 34 and it was such a relief. And when I first had medication it was a 100% difference. I got super high rating too lol in the US it’s 1.5-3 and I got 2.6

Caitl Smith

This was such a wholesome episode to watch!! You could see that James was concerned for his friend but just didn’t know how to approach it. So glad Fuhad is doing the work on himself!

Dee T

Hit me in the heart when James said your a wonderful person🥹 we’re proud of you Fuhad for sharing something so personal 👏🏼 your massively helping so many people! Would be great to hear the updates of this journey 🫶🏼

Kady Warrender

Thanks for shedding light and being open! 🤙🏾 not on James time tho! 🤣🤣 Great episode

Aurielle Cato

Just went through the same thing myself, after both my kids were diagnosed. I am 40. I never imagined I had it but knew right away my boy did. When they said my daughter was struggling with adhd…. I said , “no, she is just like me.” It started a journey that has changed my whole life. Good luck, daddy.

Kathy Troyer

As a mental health nurse with ADHD I love this! The diagnosis can be so validating so happy for Fuhad. I've been wondering if James has it for a while PDA, RJS, hyper fixation, social anxiety, caffeine craving..... amazing creativity and chemistry with each other we love to see it!

Sasha

ADHD medication like Wellbutrin (non addictive) and adderall work differently for our brains. For regular ppl it makes them hyperfocus and messes them up, even makes them high BUT for adhd ppl it just quiets the brain and makes it function like a regular brain should. I say this as someone w adhd on the spectrum (having adhd in general puts you on spectrum regardless) it’s a relief but also bittersweet and I’m happy for you fuhad. That segment made me cry bec I know what that feels like. And for James while I understand he is protective please be careful with your words. This is life changing / life saving medication for many, there is a huge stigma on adhd and spectrum folk because ppl who shouldn’t take the drug- do and are addicts. We get ostracized for it, and there’s nothing worse than having to accept how different you are and that it will never change and when you get the courage to open up to those closest to you they might have this reaction even if they mean well. I know it comes from a place of love but I advise to maybe get more educated on it and understanding ❤️ love this podcast and again so happy for you fuhad. It can only get better from here :)

heli olave

Although it’s true what James said when people take ADHD medications that have ADHD they don’t experience that hyper focus or staying up late type of thing I’ve heard they feel “normal” or how they assume other people feel that don’t have ADHD. The people who take addys and have that surge of energy and focus are often the people who don’t have ADHD so most likely Fuhad won’t experience that . However I’m not exactly sure and you know how people respond to meds is entirely based on their own body if that makes sense

Liv

The process of knowing is such a relief at times. The meds do take time for the adjustments. It took me awhile to find balance but my struggles became so much more manageable. You speaking out on it is so comforting and real.

Jordan Seal

It is so funny Fuhad because I went through the exact same thing but with autism and I was on the spectrum. I didn't believe it and made all my roommates take quizzes and they scored unreasonably low and it made so much sense but also scared me alot. It explains so many things and you can find peace though in discovering yourself on such a deep level

Kentrell Richardson

Congratulations mama!!! Hope you and little baba are feeling good 🤞🏽❤️❤️❤️-The best guys for your postpartum journey 🥰

Samantha Bartolomeo

Watching after as I just gave birth to my son😁❤️❤️

Shaolin Holloman

Welcome to the club Fuhad. My daughter is on the spectrum and I've learned alot about actually from British people. The education and resources over there is so much better than here in the states! So, don't think too much about it but I get that small sense of relief ❤️ People like you are why I created my ig page to share content about the "spectrum" because it's so broad and alot to take in. You're gonna be better for it!🥰🙏🏾

EricaDeepDimples

I just went through the same journey as Fuhad earlier this year with ADHD and it was so validating to hear him express a lot of what I thought. It’s a massive relief after going your whole life thinking that these ADHD traits are just inherent personality flaws you can’t get rid of rather than a chemical imbalance. As soon as I got diagnosed, I just felt this weight lifted off me knowing WHY I am how I am. And since being on meds, I feel so much more at peace. I’m not CONSTANTLY chasing the next dopamine hit and I’m able to lock into things a bit easier. Major quality of life increase, and I look back at my college days wondering how the fuck I got my degree while just raw dogging the world in my chemically imbalanced brain. Big up to me for that, but yeah, happy for you Fuhad!! Love ❤️

brynna dolan

ADHD and took a test about a month ago and found out I’m slightly on the spectrum as well. sensitive to loud sounds, easily overwhelmed and anxious, hate having my daily routine interrupted. It’s really enlightening to find out you’re not weird like your friends and family say. You just see and react to things differently. I like to say I’m acoustic 😂

E. Woods

i’m so proud of fuhad fr🥹 welcome to the club! i also have adhd inattentive type and i got tested as soon as i turned 18 (21 now) and im so thankful that i did! it also pushed me to pursue a psychology degree and now im in my final year. pro tip; it might take a while to find the right meds but once you do… it’s a breathe of fresh air and very enlightening. side effect tho, your gonna lose your appetite so set reminders to eat and drink water!!

amina.idc

I have ADD too! The diagnosis really confirmed so much for me. Every episode that Fuhad says "Sorry to cut you off" very much ADD. Your brain can only focus on what it wants too, we get stuck on a thought even though people keep talking. Nonstem meds are a great option too!

Najla Demons

I'm in the process of getting a proper adhd screening as well. But it's almost impossible to get any appointments for it where I live. It's mad 💀 So props to Fuhad for taking care of something that's been on his mind for ever!! I understand the relief it's bringing to your mind! He's said he has adhd bare times on the pod, always assumed he was already diagnosed

Jessy 🧃

So proud of Fuhad for taking the initiative to test himself for ADHD/ADD. I study and work in psychology and clinical mental health and all I can say is that this is an amazing and freeing first step😌 Regarding what James said about the medication, it’s true that all medications have side effects and I personally wouldn’t use them unless a professional says you REALLY need them. That being said, there may be times where you want that extra boost of concentration and a professional will always start you on a low dose anyway. However, if you smoke weed (which we know you do Fuhad😉) then I would suggest not taking the medication because it can cause a lot of issues, i’ve seen it in patients before. Sorry for the long message but I love to see the growth and personal development 🫶🏻🤍

Fuhad…they also have non stimulant drugs that could help!

Gloria Alvarenga

Awe don’t cry James. Ya boy alright gangy

Terron

I also have adhd and I’m on meds for maybe 10 or so years. Once you get a regime that works for you, you’ll be good but that trial and error of finding meds that work for you is a bitch
