A handsome 'lil hunk with his caked up caboose, as well as a great artist process example!
A commission for a patron's character Sonny! Him and his 50's boardwalk lad aesthetic were fun to flesh out, but also a perfect example to show my process! I always enjoy the flirty zest pin-ups can bring to the table, providing an easier way to showcase the steps I tend to follow while upfronting a character's saucier assest. Amusingly, sketch stages are a coin flip between being the most fun or the hardest, as I try to carve out a sense of anatomy and weight, just scratching various shapes and erasing constantly until it "feels right." Cleaning up the sketch is the most calming, and sometimes with certain pieces I'll skip lineart all together and just stick with that (but I do like how crisp and clean lineart is for filling in flat colors).
