It's a combination of a few things honestly. I don't like a lot of the music, most tracks sound very similar and revolve around that really strong overdrive electric guitar sound that drives me crazy. As someone who always does 100% runs of X games when I play them, X3 has way too much mandatory backtracking and pointless collectables like the Ride Armors which you have to find for like, one item in one stage each. Also weird stuff like having to not collect ANY chips to unlock the Gold Armor? I also think that X3's final boss Kaiser Sigma is the one of the worst bosses in the whole X series.
