Episode 440: Resident Evil vs Resident Evil vs Resident Evil

We have once again entered the world of survival horror. Yes, Retronauts has been here before, but our last dedicated Resident Evil episode was six years ago and it summarized the entire PlayStation 1 trilogy. This week, we are focusing squarely on the genre-defining tale of unaware cops stumbling into a deserted mansion and discovering that the dead can walk. That means we're discussing Resident Evil (1996) and Resident Evil (2002), the game so good Capcom made it twice.

But wait, there's more: 2002 also saw Resident Evil jump to the big screen in a film titled...Resident Evil, so we're covering that as well and its many liberties taken with the source material. As a cherry on top, our host Diamond Feit brings up the very recent Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City, a movie that incorporates nearly every element & character from the original game with mixed results.

Joining Diamond are podcast S.T.A.R.S. Alex Fraioli (co-host of No More Whoppers) and Stuart Gipp (co-host of Retronauts & other fine programs). Together, they will answer all of your burning questions about Resident Evil, such as: Did a deaf man really compose the infamous "Mansion Basement" music? What is Resident Evil called in Great Britain? And what is the meaning of Diamond's bizarre introductory joke? WHOA, this episode is DANGEROUS!

John Pading provided our episode art and Greg Leahy handled all editing, adding the following music tracks:

If you asked me to choose one, I'd put my money on Resident Evil.

A blast of an episode, and just wanna add that Diamond and Stuart are totally killing it as hosts.
