Ohio, White Noise, and the Power of Words over Things

The effects a looming environmental disaster with grave impacts on human lives is yet again underway -- a corruption-fueled nightmare all over again.

There have been so many tragic examples over the decades, under this same category. The recognizable patterns of corporate cover-up, government collusion and media spin are again in motion, and still people toy with trust, look for saviors, delay their own escape and survival.

Well, actually, in Ohio, many people are mad as hell, disillusioned with the faulty leadership, but still vulnerable, in need of better leadership... and probably as much physical distance from toxic environment as possible. May they find it, and the help and assistance they need in this situation, sooner rather than later.

More generally, for the viewer-at-home, what people are likely to get is a scripted response that benefits preconceived-aims on behalf of a well-organized agenda. (Again.) There are hints of it. We'll have to see where the pieces fall. Automated systems overhaul? A panel of experts investigating the mistakes? State-owned transportation? National Security blanketing over all the facts? A needless battle for health benefits and compensation for those immediately impacted that should be a no-brainer? People kept in the dark about the impact on their long-term health?

Perhaps all that, and something more, too. A play with the images in our mind of what disaster is; what it looks like; what it means. This isn't the first time, nor the last.

But it would be well for us, generally, to look deeper into the depths of the American psyche to identify what kind of games have been, and are being played with the mind. Wherever that does-or-doesn't hold true to be the case. The mind of the viewer, wherever they are, in whatever way they watch and consume yet another catastrophe full of shadows, spin and lies. It isn't possible to be more than suggestive here, and a bit vague, because these ideas are more rooted in the psychological thinking connected with Jung's collective unconscious, and related concepts.

But the film White Noise touches upon it -- hopefully not as an affront to the real sufferings of those exposed to the toxic chemicals (the book's from 1985); and hopefully not to rub real tragedy in the faces of those affected, although the timing of its release on Netflix just before the event was certainly eerie+uncanny -- but with the film/book as an examination of the mind of us, of us as a post-modern population in a strange age of unceasing information and mediated experience.

A century or more now of concerted psychological warfare, each case seemingly limited to its individual situations. Each narrative tailored towards a particular terminal point. And yet, the net effect of a world raised-up in this mental atmosphere of emergencies, and a deluge of new disasters, etc. is potent; and the people of this world have much more understanding to grasp. Even from our dark caves of shadows, echoes and illusions, there are hints and intuitions of something even more all encompassing. Let us break free from this type of darkness.

Also: please help to relay our voice so it can be heard; help us to cut through the noise: Under the continuing waves of algorithmic suppression, shadowbans, outright censorship, etc., walls have been constructed between voices & creators and their counterparts-- receptive ears & audiences. The effect of isolating and drowning out this communication has been dreary and oppressive, but we'll not give up. We need your help more than ever in sharing our videos and posts. Nobody's perfect, but we will continue to strive for quality content, in-depth research and meaning in our message. Our work is growing towards something, and we'd like to be able to continue it, to reach people, to have a positive effect.

We can all benefit from considering other perspectives, refining our opinions under new information and better insights, but we DON'T need minders to tell us what we're allowed to think, believe, express, post, share or "like." The political weight of unpopular sentiment or inconvenient truths is not ours to bear. The truth, where it can be found, should stand on its own, not bend around a narrative to explain away facts and data that might jeopardize someone's special agenda. Apply that to what you will, and where the truth may be understood.
