Retronauts Episode 259: Limited Run Goes Retro

I stopped by the offices of Limited Run Games a couple of years ago to discuss the art of keeping physical media (that most retro of games distribution formats) alive. For my return trip, we had something even more germane to the Retronauts mission to discuss: The reissue of old games, including Star Wars, Monkey Island, and System Shock. What does it take to turn classic games into viable contemporary releases? And just how many hoops need to be jumped through in order to license a beloved classic, anyway? This week's bonus episode offers a glimpse into the logistics of the retrogaming biz.

Description: Jeremy Parish talks to Josh Fairhurst and Douglas Bogard of Limited Run Games about the company's growing line of classic game reissues, and the behind-the-scenes details of selling new retro game releases.

The techno tracks are all from Battle Garegga.

Does anyone know what game the music is from at 32:50? That track is incredible and I really want to play whatever it's from.

Grant Baxter

I like to buy physical games so I can share them with friends and have a visual burden of a backlog. Half of my physical Switch games are from Limited Run Games. Just personally I would have never played Battle Chef Brigade or Danmaku Unlimited 3 had they not released them physically.

Faux Macho

Even though I follow them all over the internet, I somehow had not been made aware that they were doing retro console releases now. I really need to keep constant watch of their site.
