America's Early Civil Rights Case You Probably Weren't Taught

Hi everyone,

Here's our latest video, which we encountered while traveling through Oklahoma a couple of weeks back. It is a civil rights issue, and a fascinating, though tragic, case study.

Hope you all enjoy, and thank you for the ongoing support.

The Rights of a Person came under significant test in 1879 in the case of Standing Bear v. Crook, following the forced removal of the Ponca Tribe and the attempt of Chief Standing Bear to bury his son back in their ancestral homeland.

More video on the way, and strides towards our next  big project.

Excellent video! Our relationships with the natives is so difficult to understand because it's always been such a sensitive political issue. Two books, that are both academic AND a joy to read, deal with issues and help it all make as much sense as is possible. Plus, you get to meet the most amazing people through their works. One is empire of the summer moon. The second is American Heritage History of the Indian Wars. Their writings help you feel some of what all of the people felt. Amazing!

Wow! Thank you for that documentary. That was incredible. The American experiment is a process. It's not healthy what's going on within the Republican "conservative" Christian movement. In fact it just seems dangerous. Our history is about tackling tough moral ethical questions and doesn't belong to some old white dudes. So actually that nonsense needs to be discussed as well. They were free thinkers in the new world creating new ideas of governance. Many influences are at play. Not saying there wasn't old white dudes running things. I'm saying our laws and influences belong to an informed public. That's how we ask the right questions. I don't see that happening. That was great!
