Retronauts Episode 100. 100!

My original run of Retronauts ended at episode 99, and the IGN-era incarnation experienced a jagged and awkward life. So, dinging three digits is a pretty significant milestone for me — and presumably for Bob, too, but I don't want to speak for him. But anyway, wow.

To mark the occasion, we've circled back to the Kickstarter campaign that relaunched Retronauts and brought in the final cohosting level backer for his long-overdue appearance: Daniel Hawks, who wanted to explore the history of the CD-ROM format in gaming. And here we are.

As for wrapping up other Kickstarter bonus obligations, for those who are interested: Expect news on that front any day now...

Thanks to everyone for their support these past four years! Your enthusiasm for the show literally has been what's made it possible for us to hit episode 100. And we'll be able to get to number 200 much faster...

Retronauts Episode 100. 100!

Comments

Love y'all, but it's been so long waiting for my Kickstarter backer reward (video game themed custom art) that I've had time to: 1) Get married and change my name 2) Have an adorable child and raise him to 3.5 years old 3) Move to a new state Still have my fingers crossed, though.

Great episode. I remember getting a two speed cdrom and Star Wars Rebel Assault with it. It was pretty popular and probably worth a mention as a successful game, but I have to say, as an on the rail shooter, it did not age well. Oh well, it was really fun at the time and one of the rare places you could get a full Star Wars experience.

Ironjoe99

Thanks for all the hard work and great content!

this was awesome. daniel was fantastic as co-host. epsiodes focusing on topics like these have always been some of my favorites since you guys inevitably end up covering tons of systems and console generations. and seriously listening to jeremy talking hardware is my version of asmr. keep up the amazing job!

I came in post reboot, but it was only right to become a patron after 100 episodes. I've been a mooch long enough! Thanks for the great show and here's to 100 more!

I have no idea why I couldn't remember the name for your nationality during the show, but thanks for being kind about it. — JP

Retronauts

I need to check out this game!

Retronauts

This is, according to our internal numbering, also exactly episode 200 overall of the new count (factoring in Micros, holiday episodes, etc.). That could be off by a couple, but still!

Retronauts

Good episode! Daniel was a great guest. Sometimes kickstarter backers can be quiet or stick to the background mostly, but Daniel was informed and well spoken, as valid as any Retronauts guest. :) I did play Road Blaster on Sega CD, but then known as Road Avenger. Fun fact, it was created by the Double Dragon developers, which is why that red car is in Billy and Jimmy's garage. And the animation was made by the same people that did Transformers: The Movie.

Wow congrats!! The original Retronauts was the first podcast I ever listened to back in the day. I still remember discovering it on a lunch break at work and being amazed that a group of people were actually discussing OLD games, an all to rare occurrence . As an avid gamer all my life, it was truly heart-warming. Thanks for introducing me to a new form of entertainment. I wish you much continued success. Here's to another 100!

Congrats on the big 100!

Man. It seems like just yesterday when you guys rebooted. Seems to be going so well now. Thanks for the beyond excellent episodes like the Manic Mansion, Tengen, Defender, etc. And the live shows! Here's to the future...

Congrats Jeremy and Bob on hitting 100. I started listening in 2010 and devoured all your content prior. P.S. Jeremy my son loves your Works series on NES and SNES aswell as Gintendo. He is convinced you know everything about old games. All that to say we love your work guys and hope you keep it going for a long time.

Great episode, I liked it very much! Thanks for bashing on Philips and the Netherlands, saves me the trouble of doing that myself. Being from the Netherlands, the company is Dutch, which is the word you were looking for (though this country is certainly a nether-region of some kind. Don't alert the Disgaea demons) I was wondering what the first two musical interludes were from, though. I recognised the Lunar Sega CD tracks, but those first two tracks were just so familiar and I couldn't place them.

Congrats!
