Welcome to a new month of Retronauts! With our very first episode of Retronauts East, Ben and Benj and I delved into the history of Apple II gaming. Now, here's the logical follow-up: An in-depth study of games for monochrome Macintosh in the ’80s — basically, gaming up through System 6.
While the Mac didn't play host to a ton of games, the unique traits of the platform led to equally distinct software. From Dark Castle to Shufflepuck Cafe, the Mac had its own iconic visual style — and the interface and design innovations inspired by its GUI/mouse-based front-end helped redefine how people interact with video games, even today. Enjoy!
