What? Retronauts Episode 89 beat me twice.

Good day to you, and welcome to another fine week of existence. Well, I can't guarantee the entire week will be fine, but you can at least stack the deck in your odds by kicking things off with a new episode of Retronauts.

We've gone back to the Final Fantasy IV well as part of our Final Fantasy deep-dive series. Yeah, we tackled this topic back in the 1UP days, but we've declared a mulligan on anything that happened before our Kickstarter. Plus, last time around, we didn't have Kat Bailey and Chris Kohler to weigh in on the game. So expect new, fresh, meaningful insights here.

Description: We continue our Final Fantasy deep-dive series by… doing like Square did back in the day and jumping ahead from FFI to FFIV. Chris Kohler and Kat Bailey join to share their thoughts on this most influential of 16-bit role-playing games.

Next week's early access episode might be slightly late. Next weekend is another Retronauts recording marathon, wherein we'll record six episodes plus a Retronauts Radio, so I'm letting you know in advance. One of next session's episodes will, in fact, be Final Fantasy V.  So at least there's some continuity at work!

What? Retronauts Episode 89 beat me twice. What? Retronauts Episode 89 beat me twice.

thank you so much for this guys. I've just recently become a patron after way too many years enjoying your show for free and it feels so good to contribute in any way to such a knowledgeable, enthusiastic and passionate project such as retronauts. I'm humbled by you guys every week. keep up the excellent work.

It's official art from the DS remake.

Wow! What a great podcast. This couldn't have come at a better time as well, with me revisiting each of the Final Fantasy games.

Hello! Where did that delightful artwork come from?

This was a completely comprehensive review of FFIV. I don't think more can be said about it. Thanks for steering me away from The After Years, though.

Interesting! I've always found this to be the least grind-intensive Final Fantasy game. In my experience, you're always a little underpowered when you arrive at a new area, but once you make it through about half a dozen battles the EXP yield is sufficient to bring your levels in line with the current challenges.

The first time I played FFIV was the GBA remake. I'm not a fan of grinding so most of my party was only mid 30s when I got to the Giant of Babel. Needless to say I did not finish it that playthrough.

Weird, sounds like some sort of audio error. I'll be sure to correct it for the final version.

Retronauts

Enjoying the episode! Is Chris malfunctioning around 42:56 or is that the audio?
