Doomscroll 23.5: Catherine Liu

I mean we are talking about Occupy Wall Street and “stacks,” and no mention of Gaza protests, is this still a relevant critique?

I agree with a lot of what Catherine Liu has said in these episodes, but sometimes it seems she is just being contrarian toward liberalism or needs to update her thinking beyond the period immediately after the recession. How can she and Josh talk about “campus politics” so derisively without so much as acknowledging the mass protests against the Gaza genocide that centered on college campuses, and the reaction of the government and the universities to those protests? Surely the existence of that movement challenges some of the critiques she is putting forward here of students today.
