2023-07-12 22:50:42 +0000 UTCSo much to say! Yes, this is just beautiful. I will say, the more you listen to Pentatonix, the more you want to listen to PTX. You can listen to the same song over and over because their music is so layered, so you notice more and more when you listen to it. And it's fun (when you don't have a video) to try to figure out who is singing what part when you listen to them. Also, I want to add that I thought it was interesting that Scott said that this song inspired (their original) "Run to You." That's the one I keep begging you to listen to. But, yeah, you can definitely hear this song in that one. Both of them are just slow, gorgeous, meaningful songs with rich harmonies. The one thing I also have to say is it is hard to hear Kevin in this one.... so I'm not sure what he's singing exactly. (In "Run to You," my favorite part is when you can hear him and Kirsty sing, in countermelody to Avi, Scott, and Mitch.) I will say that the quality of the "Run to You" video (Berlin church version) is not as good because it was done by someone in the audience. But I still love it (it's my favorite live version of the song) because it's so real, great acoustics in the church, and they didn't even use microphones. More random notes: I need to figure out what Cindy's gang signs mean! I am so clueless. (2) Ha! You included me ;) Definitely Sarah and Robyn would sound *gorgeous* on this song. I will say tight harmonies are really hard to do. I am *all about* harmonies. I used to sing in a barbershop chorus (and quintet!). I did sing baritone in the female quintet (sometimes I did lead). Baritone is so hard because you are often stuck with all the random/left over notes. It would be hard for you to pull off this song with a bunch of women, I think, because PTX is 4 guys and 1 girl. However, Mitch has a high voice,... and I do think Kevin sings high sometimes when he's singing... If we all did it, it might just have to be pitched up. And it would be hard to pull it off... and it wouldn't sound as good as PTX. Ha! Regarding that Superfruit video... I think they might have done it to show the special relationship between Scott and Mitch. But, yeah, it was weird just having those voices isolated. It was very well done... not sure how they did it... and they had that echo effect going on. Sometimes it seems like I heard the TONES of Kirsty and the bass tones... but not their voices. Just weird. Really enjoyed this reaction.... gave me a lot to think about.
