More about v0.13

Hey guys,

I've been doing a lot of soul searching these days and I still have some to do. It's been hard finding time or focusing on the game, but I can assure you I'm actively working on it, chipping at the scrip bit by bit. My whole schedule and workflow has been screwed up, but thankfully the GUI overhaul and the Tyrone part, which were pretty massive, were done before.

The Alpha should be ready in the following days, I hope that no more than a week from today. I hate to fail to be on schedule and I hope you guys can wait a bit more. Thanks again for sticking around!

Kisses, Eva

Yeah that’s fair enough.

Cho’gall

Well, she posted the alpha eight days after she posted this topic, and the beta three days after that. Should probably have posted something to all patrons during this period though, and I would have preferred another status update between this post and the alpha release. Not terrible communication, but not great either.

Breadloaf

There hasn’t been much communication on behalf of Eva which is the worst part. I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of people unsubscribe after the next full release..

Cho’gall

we all pay sponsorship to patreon monthly, to patreon and the creators do not care if we have sufficient funds or not. they simply deny the content. the creators have to learn to separate the professional from the personal. I agree that EVERYONE has problems and it is good to take some time for your personal problems but not abuse.

alex cvrbs

I would not say that I'm being hostile as much as making an observation.

Michael Smith

If you just scroll up, you can see the posts of the alpha and beta for 20 and 10 pledged posts! There is no need to be so hostile when you can clearly see evidence of work on the page.

Ken

The silence is deafening.

Michael Smith

Hi Eva! Hope you're doing better! I was wondering if you'd kindly drop a sneak peek for the $5 pledgers. Take care!

Dashole

You guys have pretty much said everything's on my mind, let's just hope for the best I guess

maisbordeldemerde

Yeah, my worry was regarding both about the project (not much, since Eva has earned a substantial amount of trust the past year) and her as a person (not much, since she is just a stranger on the Internet). I don't think that there's much to worry about the game right now, considering we haven't gotten any information that could be interpreted that way. However, just like you said Cabot, far too many Patreon projects have crashed and burned. That in itself probably makes many patrons (including me) worried when anything bad happens. I have a feeling that we have discussed the fact that Patreon isn't a marketplace before, and I certainly agree with you. Many creators don't treat Patreon the same way they would treat a corporate job, which is disrespectful towards everyone pledging. I certainly don't send an essay to my employer whenever I can't come to work that particular day - just a few sentences explaining that I'm sick (or whatever). It doesn't take much time to do the right thing.

Breadloaf

While I sympathize with whatever personal issues EvaKiss is going through right now and really wish her the best, the thing is that we as patrons are blinded at the moment: it’s difficult to know if development of the game is truly going on and will continue in the future, and if so in what capacity (only this update delayed, bi-monthly updates from now on or something similar, irregular ones, the project put on hold for some time, etc.) I have never seen Patreon as a marketplace when you are a customer and buy some product, but as a platform to support creators you like and -believe me- I would continue to support this project in many if not all the cases cited above, and plenty other people will do the same I’m sure about it; but for that even more important than the next alpha being released tomorrow, next week or whatever, is some info on the future of the project that would take us patrons out of the dark. Because all of us have seen projects of this type in Patreon abandoned or discontinued and it usually starts with lack of communication… Best wishes in any case.

Cabot

It is a bit worrying when someone diligent and structured doesn't meet their deadlines and isn't communicating about it. Especially when they doesn't feel well, which seems to be the case here. I think everything will end out OK in the end though.

Breadloaf

Eva's been doing an amazing job as a CM until now. I'd have liked to see more posts from her in the past few days, even if it's just to say each time that you'll be back in a few days, then that would've been cool. This long silence is awkward :(

maisbordeldemerde

Yeah it’s been a while now, what’s going on??

Cho’gall

Not trying to pry or anything, but is the soul searching related to the game or is more like an obstacle keeping you from working on the game? Not that you shouldn't take all the time you need! We would all prefer a healthy and happy Eva over a quick release.

xenos87

Sameeeeeeeee. Been counting down the days since forever

itssammyl

Any news? I am super excited to be able to play the alpha :)

Carez

Never surrender?

SteelPaladin1997

Hey, do u know why the game doesnt want to start? Its like crush after one second, i can barely see loading screen.

Ola Kuc

Don't stress out too much, it's all good.

meiwow

Take your time and Never Give Up!!!

Aizar

Honestly, you've been by far the fastest, most regular and most communicative content creator I've seen on here. If anyone deserves a break or a chance to slow down it is you

Kurt Wagner

Well, it looks like I'll just paraphrase what my fellow patrons have been stating: please, just take as long as it takes. Best wishes, take care and, well, just go on being awesome.

Heresiarch

Honestly Eva you take your time, i think we all understand you are having a rough time as of late, take care of yourself, the update will come when you and it are ready, i think we would all happily wait longer for a finished version than wait less and get a version that was rushed because you felt bad or something, take your time work yourself out take care of you and the game will follow. Much love.

TheJokeman

Take your time Eva, not going anywhere. Take care of you first and foremost, the rest of us can wait for our further adventures. Love you, love you work, and hope all is getting better for you!

Amanda Lynn

Everybody deserves a break in difficult times. Eva has amazed us with her work ethic time and again in the past so this is doubly true in this case. Whatever happens with next update, such as delayed or shorter release, is fine. Best wishes to our awesome friend and developer, please take good care of yourself.

Novamarauder

Juat going to chime in with what everybody else have said here. Take the time you need and please think of your own well-being first. We love and trust you Eva. You always deliver in the end, so don't worry about a delay Best wishes to you... and just know, that you are awesome :-)

TheNetsrac

No rush and take care of yourself first!!!

Nuggies

I feel like what needs to be said, has been said already: take care of yourself mate!

Ghost

Don't overstress yourself...

Nyrreah

Considering that she's almost done with February, I would be happy with this slight delay and a small release in March (since she'll have less time to work on that release).

Breadloaf

One possibility, maybe skip a February release and do a slightly larger March release?

eyedhitit

I certainly don't expect you to keep the same pace every month. I'd be fine if you had smaller updates sometimes, for example if you are not feeling well or if you are on a vacation. Just don't forget to take care of yourself.

Breadloaf

If it takes time to get things in order then it takes time. Don't neglect taking care of yourself just to force a more rigorous schedule. I'm as eager as the next person to see the next release, but not if that means you risking burning out and suffering for it.

Schnoofles

Can't get enough of your work, greatly looking forward to the continuation. Best of luck dealing with what you need to deal with!

Marintonka

Looking back on what you've produced, both in terms of time and quality, I don't think anyone can realistically question your work ethic. Shit happens. Sometimes really hard shit. Some of us are intimately familiar with that. The fact that you are even still chipping away at this rather than just putting things on hold is impressive. Take care of yourself. I, personally, can wait.

SteelPaladin1997

Your dedication to the game even in trying times is commendable and much appreciated. Please, have another spoonful of sympathy and hugs. As it concerns next update, I'm just curious to know if the planned overhaul of the scoring system currently applies to past updates, the coming one, both, or none. Just to know when I should best plan for some time to replay everything from the start and build up a revised version of my optimized preferred playthrough. So far, I've left the issue in standby. Thanks for your efforts.
