Orphan Black Season 2 Episode 6

Comments

Here I am randomly waking up at 2:30 am and I seen y'all done uploaded. Off to watch I go because who needs sleep, right? 😂😂😂... Name Check: Cosima's Patent Finding Lab Buddy - Scott. Cosima's Puppy - Delphine. Neo-Revolution - Neolution. Helena's Boyfriend - Jesse. Fish People - Proletheans. Ginger Baby - Gracie. Swoop Bang Prolethean - Mark. Andrew Peckham/Rachel's Father/Swan Man- Professor Ethan Duncan. Rachel's Mother- Susan Duncan. Alison's Husband/Monitor - Donnie Hendrix. We got some interesting character pairings this episode: Felix/Art & Allison/Vic. I guess I'll start with the former. Who'd thought Felix & Art would be teaming up and be a good team at that? Poor Felix though. Mixing dark & light like that? I'm surprised he was able to sit up without some ibuprofen and a powerade when he woke up, letting alone actually got up to help Art. But getting frame for murdering a cop, I understand not caring because that's a crazy situation to be in. Being demoted from babysitting to barganing chip, our dear Felix is having a rough season so far. Felix grabbing on Art's cakes is almost as funny as how unfazed Art was about it (Maybe the cakes get grabbed on a lot, so he's used to it lol). Art's a multi-tasker though. I guess he said, "I'll check on Felix, but I'm still gonna get all of this work done too" and just brought of that stuff up in Felix's place lol. I guess he's still suspended so he got a lot of time om his hands. I know Felix is tired of people just "moving in" his place. He's just gotta accept that his place is the official Clone Club Headquarters lol... Alison is still in rehab and she definitely doesn't want to be there. Vic's face when he saw Alison though 😂. He found Buddah, got cleaned up, and trying to turn his life around, and here's the woman, with his ex-girlfriend's face, who tazed and maced him staring him right in his (well more like trying to avoid his face lol). They surprisingly have great chemistry though. Them both trying to shoot basketball with only one working hand/arm was hilariously cute lol. Who'd a thought Alison would find a friend in Vic. He even stood up for her with Donnie (that double "NO!" when Donnie tried to kiss Alison bye 😆). I guess it's easy when you're feeling abandoned and all alone in a place you don't want to be. Even the most unexpected, familiar faces can be a comfort. Shame that he's working for frickin' Angela Deangeles. I understand Angie's need to get to the bottom of the mystery (especially since her & Art's insane case was snatched right from under them with no real answers), but there are boundaries and she's seriously crossing them heavily here imo. Using a man in recovery, who's seemingly trying to actually better his life and get better, dangling his charges against him to do her dirty work is low. And she's supposed to be off the case. I understand Vic taking the deal because who wouldn't want the fresh start, especially as a pivotal point in their lives such as recovery, so I can't hold that against him. And he clearly doesn't even want to do it 😞. So, our nerdy lab buddy, Scott, is now working for DYAD. Delphine should have at least warn Cosima first. Scott's arm fold when he dropped the clone bomb always crack me up. Cosima's right, he's so cute lol. But it does make sense to bring him on and Delphine was right that Cosima had already brought him into it. He was the who found the genetic sequences in the which was how Cosima found out how DYAD were able to tell the clones apart despute the supposed identical dna, and later on, the patent. We don't know how much time Cosima has left and they need all hands on deck. He doesn't know that one of the clones is his own friend though. And now he's the one who figured out that the tooth is a most likely a "niece" (he's cracking information left and right). So, Delphine now knows that the stem cells they've extracted are most likely from Kira's tooth somehow and they're treating Cosima with. And she wants to keep it from Cosima by making Scott keep it quiet. Girl, the secrecy and Kira is what got you in doghouse the first time smh. I do love that they had Cosima call Delphine the "puppy" since that was the nickname the fandom with her golden retriever hair and puppy eyes lol. The show's creators/cast definitely had a special relationship with the fanbase that I hadn't seen in other fandoms. You could tell they actually paid attention to all the love and dicussions they got for this little known Candadian show that they'd do stuff like that. I've always have had a soft spot for Sarah/Cosima moments (even when they butted head last season, but even more when they're not, like the concerned/makeup huge in the season 1 finale) and the one from this episode is no different. Maybe it's the way that they both bounce off of each other so easily, whether it's them being snarky or exchanging information. Their relationship have always seemed a bit different from the others to me. Cosima told Delphine she didn't tell anyone, especially Sarah, about her illness because she didn't want Sarah to have another thing to worry about, especially without having a solution or cure first. I think one of the things that differentiates Cosima from her sisters is her optimism. Sure, she's the cheeky loc'd, reefer smoking, science nerd, but also tends to have a more positive attitude, especially compared to Sarah & Allison. When Cosima was talking to Sarah on the phone about the old science experiments done at Cold River, she tells her, "Science is what scientists do, Sarah. Nobody got any idea. We're just poking at things with sticks", she's including herself in that, being both "the science" AND "the scientist". She hasn't found a cure. She doesn't even know if the treatment she's getting will even work. She's "the scientist" and she probably feels like she's failing on her end to do the her job, especially since Sarah's constantly risking her life to do hers. When Cosima and Sarah first meet alone for the first time at the bar in season 1, Sarah asked Cosima, "The German was sick. Should I be worried?" And Cosima responded, "Give me the briefcase and I'll find out". Cosima finds out that they do need to be worried via her OWN illness. She's not even sure she can save herself and in turn won't be able to save her sisters. She's starting to feel defeated and you can hear it in her voice. So could Sarah because she pauses to ask Cosima is she gonna be okay. At that moment, Cosima heard Sarah's worry and immediately turned her optimism back on. Sarah looked like she was getting choked up a little when she tells her, "I can't do this without you, Cosima". I love the "geek monkey" comment callback from season 1, except when Cosima said it then, she and Sarah were having a disagreement, and she called herself the "geek monkey" when Sarah told her to stay away from Delphine and stick to the science. The thing is, Sarah & Cosima fell into two very different, but important, complimentary roles in this endeavor. Sarah has become the action girl, while Cosima is "the guy in the chair". It WOULD be hard for Sarah to do her job without Cosima, and vice versa. Sure, they can probably get by, but they definitely need each other. Like Cosima said, they're stronger together. The main trio have been separated most of the season, so far. Hopefully, they'll bust Allison out of rehab and get the band back together. We got a fun Helena episode, right off the heels of y'all saying she might be y'all new favorite 😄. I LOVE Brother-Sestra Ralph's adoration for the twin connection and bonding, ever since he told Sarah, "save your crazy sister" back in 1x9 when Helena was in the cage, and didn't even know they were twins yet lol. The twins have become such a fun treat together, when they're there's not someone potentially getting murdered lol. Their relationship is such an interesting one and up until now, has been very one-sided. Granted, again, Helena was doing a lot of sniping, stabbing, and semi-Kira snatching, it's understandable lol. Helena doing the doggy & bunny shadow puppets and Sarah playing along was so cute. Sarah should have given her something other than canned beans to beans to each that night because she was probably gassing up that tent all night lol. I love the overhead shot of the two of them sleeping opposite of each other in the tent. If you notice, they're creating the ying-yang symbol with the way they're laying. I thought that was the perfect touch for the twins. Despite Sarah's confession to Helena the previous episode, Helena still feels insecure about her relationship with Sarah. Helena's been used by so many people, made into a monster for others' gain, false affection to do their biddings, she struggles to trust Sarah in regards to how she feels. She felt that of she told Sarah where Cold River was, Sarah would just leave her behind, and Sarah didn't deny it. Helena's many things, but stupid is not one of them. She is curious about having her own babies. It was probably something she never really had the opportunity, or even felt deserving to have, and I doubt Tomas or Maggie Chen were taking her to the doctor to get a physical, let alone a gynecologist. Sarah's still trying to get Helena to open up about what happened on remembering Helena mentioning her being married, but Helena's still understandably apprehensive. Even she's not entirely sure what happened. ROAD TRIP! It was a short but cute moment. Who's thought in season 1 that we'd get Helena playfully singing The Archies to a half annoyed, half amused Sarah in a car ride. I don't know why Sarah really thought Helena was gonna just stay in car though. She really should have dumped a bunch of snacks in the car to keep her put. Baby girl said, "I'm on vacation", so she's gonna do what she wants lol. I love that Helena used her sisters' different lives to create her own backstory. Considering how tragic Helena's own life seems to be, her hot mess sisters' lives do seem to be the better alternative to tell. And who'd of thought that Helena would one day find herself a little boo thang lol. Aye, when someone sees your special brand of crazy in action and still want you, that's a keeper 😄. An impromptu first date consisting of pork rinds, white russians, arm wrestling, and a slow dancing. I've had worse lol. It really felt like such a special moment. This was probably the first time anyone, let alone a gentleman, had treated her with such interest and respect, of course she's gonna immediately fall in love. She's probably never been held like that before. He owns his own towing business too? AND he gave her pork rinds? 😍 Even weirdo Mark told Paul that he respectfully wanted Helena to have her nice moment before bringing back to the Proletheans. She looked at Jesse with such adoring eyes as they slow danced, although they were boarding on public indecency for a minute there lol. Then Mr. Sprang Finger had to bust it up. I hate that she got arrested for defending herself and her "boyfriend" because he can't keep his hands to himself, especially since his boys was trying to jump in. And you'd think a stranger finger would be enough of a "No", and a pool ball to the eye would tell him to go sit down somewhere, but he still kept coming at her. He's lucky she didn't kill him. Between the pool balls, pool sticks, glasses, and eating utensils, she would have made quick work of him. I also had that she saw Sarah see her get arrested and she didn't come to get her. It just made it easier for Gracie and Mark to play on her insecurities about her relationship with Sarah. And her desire to have children allowed her to play right into their hands 😞. I can't get mad at Sarah for not going to get her sister out of jail. She's trying to stay lowkey with so many people trying to snatched her up, and Helena made the situation too hot. I do appreciate, at least she tried to get Art to get her released (luckily they hadn't ran Helena's prints because that'd once again open up a can of Beth/Sarah/Katja worms that they don't need). Unfortunately, it was too late and those Fish People already got to her. Helena gets so manipulated that it's so sad to see. As "criminally insane" as she is, she has a very vulnerable heart. I will say that I at least respect Gracie's honesty about her feelings regarding Helena, even if I don't respect her opinion itself. The guy that played Jesse is Patrick J Abrams. He played Mike on the series "Suits". I think he was a fan of the show and got put on as a guest star, but don't quote me lol. Funny that Paul thought Mark might have been "Special Forces" or JTF2 (Joint Task Force 2, which is a Tier 1 elite special force of the Canadian Armed Forces, serving under the Canadian Special Operations Forces Command. Shoutout to Wikapedia lol). Paul was former military, so it makes sense that he would think such since he said he didn't detect Mark until the night before, so Paul might have noticed Mark was watching the twins when he was searching through the truck outside the tent. Mark said his skills were from, "Boy Scouts". Hey, sometimes it's those childhood skillsets that come back and help us in the long run lol. Maybe Paul should be paying more attention to his surroundings if it took him that long to know someone else was watching them 🤦🏾‍♀️ lol... So, Sarah continued her journey of finding Swan Man within "old man driving range" (hilarious), and find. Sarah really do be pulling up to places with no protection and a half cocked plan, don't she? Lol. But uh, oh. Who answers the door? The very woman she wasMrs. S' on the scene, strap in hand, and she's making moves. The first time I saw Mrs. S open that door the gun I. Her hand, I was like, "Lawd, she done killed Ethan Duncan" 😫. Siobhan seems to finally reveal her role in everything. "Just like you, I got caught up in a struggle I didn't ask for, only I've been at it a lot longer than you, so I'm better at it...His (Ethan Duncan) name is "Peckham" It has been ever since he came over to our side 20 years ago. We hid him in exchange for information about experiements on unborn children and a surrogate(Amelia) who ran away... Cartlon found you in the foster system and DYAD's been after us ever since". WHEW! That was a lot for me to type, so I know that was a lot for Sarah to process all at once lol. Sarah says she doesn't believe a word Siobhan says and I can't blame her. To find out your mum's been lying to you basically you whole life. That woman seems to be full of secrets. Which "Hello" was more intimidating? Siobhan's "Hello, Paul"? Or Allison's, "Hello, Donnie" from episode 2x2 at the cemetery? Lol. I swear, probably the easiest way to kill me is to offer me free food because the moment Mrs. S said she had tea & "biscuits" in her pocket, in her lovely, Irish mom voice, I would have been like, "Ooooh, you shouldn't have. You're so sweet". Next thing you know, I'm keeled over the steering wheel 🤣😂😭... Sestra Shamonda is correct. Mrs. S & Paul met in the beginning 1x9. He came over Mrs. S house and Sarah told him that Mrs. S knew everything. Mrs. S said, "Well, not everything, clearly" like a mama who finds outs their daughter got her a new, fine boo thang without telling her lol. He came over to tell Sarah that Leekie knew who she was and set up a meeting for Sarah & Leekie to meet for the first time. Now, Mama is having a one on one with the ex-boyfriend? (I don't even know what to call Sarah/Paul at this point lol). "If Sarah's caught between Leekie and Rachel, I'm betting you are, too. And a man who serves two masters answers only to himself". Siobhan be dropping bars ("One of the great things about this country, hunting's not just for the rich" is still one of my favorites and it hits different when you know she really be out here "hunting" 👀😂). Paul is being tugged back and forth between Rachel & Leekie who aren't on the same page. Paul asked her who does she answer to? "I'm a mum, aren't I? If you think you're about to take Sarah backI love that she's ready to die for her daughter so what's Paul next move gonna be? Because now that he's found Sarah AND Ethan Duncan. Rachel sent Paul to spy on Leekie, but Leekie told Paul to call him first if Sarah founds Rachel's Father. Paul may not know why, be we now do 👀). Paul's been trapped with DYAD due to his. It's why he's. After he told Sarah in the season 1 finale what happened in Afghanistan when Sarah was going to turn herself in and make a deal with DYAD, he told Sarah, "That's what they have on me. If you were born outside of their control, what do they really have on you?" (basicslly trying to convince her to not make the deal as he was only forced due to blackmail)and between that and getting the call from Cosima immediately after about the patent reveal, Sarah was motivated to run. "If you think you're taking Sarah back, then you'll have to kill me. And if you think about taking Duncan back, the only man alive who can give Sarah and her sisters what they need, then you'll have to kill us both." I love that Siobhan is ready referred to die for her daughter. I also love that Siobhan refer to Alison & Cosima (and the rest of the clones) as Sarah's sisters, so it's not just Sarah(and Kira) that she seems to be willing to die for either. So, we finally meet Ethan Duncan. One of the creators of Project Leda. Father of Rachel Duncan. He looks like he's been through some trauma. It's got be jarring for them both to meet, especially since Sarah/Helena ("Amelia's child" as Siobhan referred to her as) was the one that was seemingly supposed to go to the Duncans. The way he starred at Sarah thinking it was his little girl was heartbreaking, even moreso when you find out what happened. As unethical as Project Leda was, I feel bad for Ethan. We at least finally get a bit of insight about what, why, & how Project Leda came to be, from the source itself. The military recruited the Duncan's in '76 based on their previous work, then DYAD contracted them to be brought on fulltime, but Aldous Leekie and his Neolutionist sect high-jacked the project. And man, just as we start to have some trust in Leekie, we find out just how horrible he really is. And I that Sarah called Rachel "lost" because somehow, that happy, smiling, adorable little girl from the home video seemed to have died along the way What I find interesting that when Sarah spoke to Ethan to get through to him, she didn't advocate for herself, the ones DYAD are after. She mainly advocated for her sisters. "There's just me. Alison is a housewife with two adopted kids. Cosima's a brilliant scientist, just like you... Cosima is unlike anyone I've ever met. And she's sick. We're sick. Your 'little girls' are dying. It could happen to Rachel too.". Cosima was worried about Sarah being burdened about possibly getting sick, but Sarah doesn't seem to be thinking about that. She worried about her sisters getting sick and dying. She needed Ethan to understand the same fear she was feeling about her sisters by reminding him that his daughter is in the same boat. But then Ethan Duncan drops a bomb. Aldous Leekie, not only stole Rachel from Ethan & Susan, but that HE was the one behind Rachel's parent being "killed". "Leekie wouldn't let us raise her. We were going to expose everything, but he found out... Aldous Leekie killed my Susan. He killed Rachel's mother." And there it is. The reason Leekie told Paul to call him instead of Rachel if Sarah found Duncan. Just when you think Leekie is trying to be on our side a bit in the previous, we find out just how awful he actually seem to be, according to Ethan. Rachel told Paul that Leekie tended to get too attached to his subjects, including her, that he couldn't make the hard choices because of it. Well, it seems he certainly made a choice that day. I actually have a "Fun Fact" for this episode, but, let's just say, I'm going to hold off on it for a little while longer 😏... So, some of the members of our Clone Club fb fan group made a video of us singing "Sugar, Sugar". We each picked a line from the song and edited it together. We even got a few OB actors to join in the fun 😁 (Cynthia Galant/Young Rachel Duncan, Zoé De Grand Maison/Gracie Johanssen, and Kristian Brunn/Donnie Hendrix). https://youtu.be/q1gUIYVQ_8o?si=zwUPTXsjcn8UYdh8 I'm loving this list Ralph is cooking up lol. I can't wait to see how it shapes throughout the series. And that Ace Ventura reference was perfect 👌🏾 😂. So, we're left on some pretty important clifhangers: Will Vic be Alison be her new arts & crafts buddy? Will Mrs. S offer more tea & biscuits in an intimidating fashion? Will Felix's liver ever recover? We'll wait patiently for that 2x7 episode y'all told me y'all have already seen because I know it's gonna be good 😂🤣😂.

Ash Lee Can

Wow. Ralph has an enemy’s list. Now I know this is a great show. 😂
