BC March Madness 2025 - Day 14

Goddamn, another nailbiter! Sony's Hot Monsters Who Fuck wins by only 3 votes. For the record, whoever commented this was correct. Venom IS technically a hot monster who fucks.

For today's matchup, it's time to mask up.

It's Predator vs. Alan Moore Adaptations.

With the Predator series, we'd cover six films (if the latest one comes out in time):
Predator (1987)
Predator 2 (1990)
Predators (2010)
The Predator (2018)
Prey (2022)
Predator: Badlands (2025)

With Alan Moore Adaptations, we'd cover four films that Alan Moore himself hates:
From Hell (2001)
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003)
V For Vendetta (2005)
Watchmen (2009)

Who comes out on top—the Predator? Or Guy Fawkes?

Comments

Shaking my fist in the air as a silent protest. We all missed out on making our lives better.

Zach Bruno

Rather like when I voted against Brexit and assumed the rest of the country would, I wake up to find that Predator has been ditched 😂😩

Damimoon Sunbeam

All good points, I’ll give you that!

John Halski

Oh, absolutely.. Lxg was one of my main reasons

Brendan Radigan

That's an excellent summary but I imagine each car crash would have its own many and varied wrinkles. Plus in terms of other talking points, just the actors alone: Depp, before the fall, Connery in "let's shoot this piece of shit" mode, Portman still finding her way, Weaving, Crudup, Wilson, Haley-Earle! You can never be sure, but this may be a hugely bit-rich environment!

John Dog

They should really do Show Pieces and the Show for Alan Moore as a counterpoint to the films of his work he hates.

Oliver Scott

Alan Moore is BORING!

Good

Surprising results. Are there really people that want to hear reactions to the filmed poop that is LXG?

ian

Yeah that really would be a helluva dossier

Rad Rodge

Dossier on The Predator (2018) would be interesting but a bit grim as well I think. That movie is an absolute mess.

Alexander Annand

Predator 2 has some of the most metal imagery ever committed to film. Predators is great and under seen. Prey is straight up incredible. Meanwhile the Alan Moore series is one good film, one great film, and two absolute stinkers

Adam Grzegorczyk

Disappointed in these results

Justin Hiltz

Isn't THER Predator by Shane Black?

heather

I really cannot overstate how extraordinarily boring and unwatchable LXG is and how extraordinarily dull and uninteresting commentaries of LXG are. HDTGM’s recent episode is a case in point

David Ranallo

They should do the Justice League Unlimited episode of "For the Man Who Has Everything"

Anthony Strand

The Alan Moore series would be *way* more slog and repetition than I think people here realize. “So the studios wanted to adapt it because it had this incredible reputation among comic book readers. Then they read the comic and freaked out because it’s unfilmable and full of content offensive to large swaths of America. So they watered it down to hell and Alan hates it and fans of the source material hated it and audiences were ‘meh’ and the finished product is perhaps watchable but mostly uninteresting.”

John Halski

Straight watch-through of all Watchmen content on Max

Matthew O'Reilly

ALAN MOORE ALL THE WAY BABY

Matthew O'Reilly

Throw-in SWAMP THING for Moore…and you have a deal.

Tom Lowery

TECHNICALLY you guys should do the Killing Joke animated movie for Moore, but it is awful and not in a fun war so I understand.

Isaac Maddock James

Justice for Madame Web!

Lola Lirola

justice for morbius

Liam

guy who fawkes

Ben Burbank

Gonna be the 4 hour cut of Watchmen, right?

Bradley Churton

When LXG came up on the Temple of Doom episode, I had the same hallucination about that movie that I always have when I remember it exists: wasn’t Tom Sawyer played by Christian Slater in his early 20s? OF COURSE NOT that would’ve been a better movie and also Slater was like 35 at the time! Some part of my brain wants that movie to have existed anyway though

Rad Rodge

Alright hot monsters we did it!!

Hannah K. Garden

V for Vendetta is going to be so much fun lol

Brice

Whoever wins...we win :)

Michael Hashizume

Team predator!

David McCallum

Would really love for them to not do Moore because I have an ethical objection to watching Watchmen adaptations, considering that DC basically stole Watchmen from Moore/Gibbons outright and then spent the next 30 years portraying Moore as the villain in that exchange, somehow.

Ryan Howard

After Terminator, Predator makes so much logical sense. I’m guessing people are voting for LXG commentary, but I feel the others are going to be more of a slog.

Les Chappell

So much wonderful fodder for the podcast with the Predator series, including some great flicks that are good for rewatch.

Dan W

Am I the only one who is not a fan of the adhoc "franchise" series. Predator is such a great franchise for the format.

James Heath

Three votes!? Fellow blankies, only 42% of eligible voters cast a ballot in the last matchup. Come on now, we can do better!

Stephanie Lambrenos

Let's take Predator all the way baaaby!

Wyatt Gray

I love all the Predator movies but the Moore series is just way more interesting for discussion

Erik Wacker

Damn this has been the toughest one so far for me

Collin Lewis

I know the timing is wrong but I think the 82 Swamp Thing belongs on the Moore list, entirely because fuck yeah Swamp Thing.

Richard Rush

Yeah, I thought Griffin said that on the Podcast.

Andrew Cardinale

Need more bits around the name “LXG”

Harrison Cordle

Predator 2 is proto-vaporwave 😎

Manish Agarwal

How Did This Get Made just learned the folly of watching LXG.

Ryan Baker

Moore is so in their sweet spot it’s crazy. Should win it all and I don’t give a shit about any of those films.

David K

🫡

Lobo

Going Predator, it should be Watchmen the Extended Directors cut 4 hour version with the animated comic sequences. It's the one Zach Snyder movie I'll champion but I still think ZS was a coward for not including the Alien Squid.

Chris Radicone

You’re in luck! https://pca.st/episode/140d7d5b-7e7c-4c3c-a3ce-a9488ff236f6

David K

Hot Monsters Who Fuck to go all the way! A reanimated Cinderella story.

Adam Butterworth

GET TO THE CHOPPAH

Jess Kaplan

ALL the predator movies are fun. You fools!

Ginger’s Boyfriend Matt

I will sing the Little Lulu song in his voice to this day, I have seen this episode on purpose exactly (once)

Joel Pelanne

Just ask yourself, you want good movies, or you want bad adaptations?

Regis L

Predator please. Please Predator. I mean, come on. Predator, right? Like, it’s Predator. Just, you know, Predator.

Doc Derwin

Swamp Thing isn't specifically Moore's book or creation, he just hammd an EXCEPTIONAL run on it. Swampy was created by Len Wein and has an extremely rich history independent of Moore's run

Aric Yakel-Kuntz

Holy shit that was a close one! 3 votes!!!

Steve Runyon

You say that, but the Predator series actually has a lot more variety than you might think. I went through them all for the first time a few years ago and was genuinely surprised by just how radically different they all were from one another in terms of their tones and settings.

Brandon Melling

Watchmen Babies in V for Vacation

pastrick

I believe the Alan Moore series should include the YouTube shorts video cut together from the bits of his Simpsons appearance that will never stop getting recommended to me for very obvious reasons and I'm not afraid to say it

Joel Pelanne

Alan Moore for the sheer variety.

Miles Lemaire

Predator series would be a fun night, watching them.

Tom

3 votes my goodness

Jake

It isn't. In fact, the movie predates his run on the comic. The movie came out in February 1982, and DC relaunched the comic that same year to promote the movie. Alan Moore took over that series with issue #20 in 1984.

Anthony Strand

Unquestionably Predator, bb

Anthony Regina

Prey is incredible. Everyone should watch it. Anyway, I voted for Moore.

Michael Curley

It's the best worst introduction to classical literatary characters.

Beardmask

Only voted for predator because I know they don't like v for vendetta and I don't want to hear them being wrong about a movie for 2 hours

Spencer Pommier

Pour one out for my Man Venom. We tried so hard

Harry Kolmer

The Watchmen commentary alone would make a Moore series amazing.

Beardmask

Exaaaaactly

Maricela Gonzalez

Here for the League and Watchmen commies

Dads FM

Bizarrely, this is my toughest choice of the whole bracket. I think I’m going to vote Moore, but I’d be totally happy if Predator wins the whole thing.

Tobey

Alan Moore is going to hate these episodes, want his name removed from them and he's going to tell everyone who will listen just how much they miss the point of his work

Literaltruth

God the patreon choices are so much harder than main feed

Rice

Honestly, Alan More should win it all.

Jordan Coleman

DECADE OF (laser)BEAMS!

Del Lorenson

Never seen League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Seems like a good way to see it.

Charles

HDTGM just did LoEG and that’s really turned me off of the idea of doing the Moore series

Hoot n Waddle

No Constantine for Moore?

Devin

Voting for Alan Moore mostly because I personally did my own Predator rewatch recently.

Damian Brown

Predator is a 5 star movie and is better than all of the other movies combined. If it doesn't win we all lose.

Zach Bruno

Glad I voted for Sony Hot Monsters Who Fuck in the last 17 minutes of the poll being open - right under the wire! Wooooo!

Daryl

Want From Hell, supremely underrated film, the Hughes Brothers colabs are AMAZING

statue of liberty

It's the Decade of Dreams, guys! Predator brings us just Alien: Romulus away from finishing all Alien v. Predator films. Do it for us completists!

Benjamin Ogden

Alan Moore!

Joseph Maggio

please god let alan moore sweep

Pat Walther

I have seen LXG 50 times and I'm ready for one more!!

Christian Scarbrough

Why no swamp thing? Isn’t that based off his comic or no? I’ve not seen the movie to clarify

Jimmy Leavens

Give Alan Moore royalties for the episodes, tbh

Anthony Strand
